Sovereign Class - Durability Issues
You feel like a battlecruiser is too weak or a race too strong? Go ahead and discuss it here :)

(What year is Fleet Ops set, anyway?)
Oh, I agree with you - they probably wouldn't be producing more Excelsiors or Mirandas, but they'd be upgrading and refitting the Akiras, Galaxies, Norways etc in the same way they did the Excelsiors and Mirandas, if that makes sense?

eek, must've definitely touched a nerve with this topic. I'm impressed.
Seriously though, if the proposed special weapon swap between the Sovereign and Akira did go ahead; then that would be good enough for me. It would (technically) make the Sovereign more durable in a firefight with the proper management - and that is all this thread is about.
As for those who want a whole boost to the Feds - I would like to say that I think the Federation are fairly good as they are. Aside from a few tweaks here and there - which all of the races need (mind you, I'd say the Dominion Puretech Avatar needs more of a boost) - I think FO has done a good job.

20 years after the Dominion War.
- Soyuz Class - Do they even use Soyuz Class anymore?
- Miranda Class - Miranda Class are not likely to be built anymore, but Starfleet built so many that they are likely to last a long time even without new ships!
- Excelsior Class - Same the Miranda Class

Yes, although I don't think a 30-year-old Norway-class cruiser would require quite the overhaul that a 100-year-old Miranda-class science ship did in order to be (barely) competitive in the Dominion War.

guys, i think we all agree here, starfleet refits, and upgrades ship, until there destroyed, or just used for mining, the feds are very good about that, they always upgrade, while they also built very powerful ships, now we can either ¨build¨ a certain amount of them, and have them able to upgrade, or have them be able to be upgraded after warp in (and have more warp in) but i do think we need them, as they really reflect the way the feds does things, and itd be cool to also build, refitted akira and stemarunner
as to the ¨people¨ who want an overall increase in feds, let me just say, i dont, whatd id like is a new ship or two, mirandas 2 being alble to be built for mayson, or both avatars, and more phalanxs, for both avatars, and seriously guys, can we please give one fed ship a punch, because guys, feds are not a weak race, they have alot of science, can just one get a strong offensive value greater then 45? idc if it costs a it more, but i think we need one fed vessal with a big offense, or make descent a very big offensive, yes i know, feds are defenseive, however, it seems to me that the notion is now, there not vvery powerful, i belive this false, i think we need a very powerful vessal from them, even if it costs alot

I always thought the Federation had a substantial advantage in torpedo technology over the other Alpha Quadrant powers. The Klingons, Romulans, and Breen certainly don't have quantum torpedoes, and they most definitely don't have transphasic torpedoes. And stock Armada implied the Federation wrote the book on tricobalt torpedoes, so to speak.
So, would it be possible to power up Federation torpedoes, or give them an upgrade to refit their ships with stronger quantum torpedoes (replacing or augmenting photon torpedoes)? Giving the Descent-class a transphasic torpedo special weapon might be overkill, but it could be just what the doctor ordered for Federation offensive capabilities.

actually, thats a wonderful idea! that would be awsome! and you very right, i mean the kligons use disruptors and sutff, but the feds wrote the books on phasers and torpedos, epscially after voyager came back with all the alblative armor and cool borg torpedos and such, itd be perfect for a refit/ upgrade system, itd be very good for intrepid akira and steamrunners and all of them, and also maybye some phaser refits, i like that idea alot, and if the promethius class is added, that could be one of its main points, and make it the best offensive ship of the feds, but you are very right, and torpedos could give them the boost they need,
however if were only giving this to a ship or two, then give it to phalanx and descent, (or sovy) since they are the newer ships, but i like the refit idea alot................................ heck just bring promethius or some other new ship in, and give it to them

We also thought that Federation Quantums should be a bit different from other weapons as they are quite advanced. In the next patch all Quantums will always fire in bursts of multiple torpedoes per volley (similar to what we already have when opening combat, but all the time). That looks more show-like

since we've seen the quantum in the shows as being somewhat special an having higher than normal destructive abilities, could the volley be a special ability of the sov... or a special passive ability that is obtained once the sov or akira has achieved a specific rank?
It would allow the ability to be powerful and still in keeping with game balancing.

could we get a slight offensive boost for those torpedos?
i i only like serpicuses idea, if al ships have them, but the ones that have it as a special do more damage

I definitely like the idea of quantum bursts being a passive ability of the Excelsior-II-, Defiant-, Phalanx-, Sovereign-, and Descent-classes either at a certain tech level (researched upgrade) or a certain rank. Cannot wait to see the burst-fire effect implemented - is there some .ODF command for that, or does that require Fleet Ops Magic?

i will take a closer look at the torpedoes for the future Federation redo
Yep, the burst fire requires some Fleet Operations magic
