You feel like a battlecruiser is too weak or a race too strong? Go ahead and discuss it here :)

Theres nothing wrong with the sovereign power. Remember the cost for a borg cube is significantly more than a sovereign class. The sovereign is seriously well balanced.

This is a serious post, and I want everyone to take it seriously.

I think lots of things should be changed on the Sovereign.  Right now, it feels like a bigger Akira, one phaser, one quantum torpedo.  Also, the special ability should be something truer to canon.

Here is what I suggest.  The Sovereign should be given 2 phasers instead of one.  A photon torpedo launcher should be added.  The quantum torpedoes shouldn't fire as often as the photons.  It's hull strength is still the same, but now it can take down enemy vessels quicker.

Special ability - Instead of the engine drainer, which we never see in canon, how about a way to detect cloaked enemies?  Say a phaser burst weapon?  It reveals cloaked vessels, yet weapon effectiveness is reduced to 75% to 50%, due to the phaser energy pool being drained.

The Sovereign is not near a god ship as Cubes are.  Also, perhaps a build limit should be put on the Sovereign, to say, 5 vessels.

One more thing to add to my recommendations above.
Make the Sovereign harder to build.  Require researching ASDB (Advanced Starship Design Bureau) at Starfleet Command, or make it a warp-in vessel.

awww we love u too Mal  .... just...... differently

@farshot. what ure suggesting deals with the visuals.
What kind of stats would u then envision for those? 50 offense on a sov?
It isnt really that practical.

honestly, I would not mind seeing a sov offense at 40 with a slight increase in its costs (dil and tri).
other than that IMO nothing much needs to be done. Feds are a more support ship oriented race with good defense and pretty good offense but relying on technical specialities.
The current play brings that out well.

Other than that what more can really be done. I do not want to see a Sov as a mini-Tav with a limit of 5 or needing some advanced Yard.. It is a mainstream battleship, not the  experimental and limited powerhouse that the Titan is.

Honestly, while one would not dismiss the intention to get the sov a bit more canon. It should be more expensive, and certainly pack a little more punch say 40-42 offense. But that's bout it.

The only reasonable way we could do that would be to increase the Sov cost to 1000 dil and about 800 tri, bringing the defiant class back to relevance as a cost effective class the way we see it on the show.
However shortly after that is done anotehr thread will be posted arguing about the cost vs offense viability.

So the list will go on and on.
Moreover a thread with a poll was started, and on that one the community voted to leave the sovs as is.

No point in now beating a dead horse.

also a question, seing as there was no fed redo in patch 7 could we be seeing some of it in patch 8? or has that been pushed back to patch 9 and 10?

also a question, seing as there was no fed redo in patch 7 could we be seeing some of it in patch 8? or has that been pushed back to patch 9 and 10?
