i think there are cases where the drones will enter one side of the ship exit the other and then repeat the process again untill the ship explodes

Yep, that's usually the case with the non-explosive type drones carried by city ships, battleships, and outposts.

In the first season of sga wasnt there an anchient weapons platform that had energy weapons as opposed to drones?

Yeah, those directed energy satellites at the Lagrange points I believe :)

There was also the one from season two, where they were using that new kind of power that ended up blowing up the solar system.  But the gun was a big ray gun of some sort.

5/6 parts of the system  mckay annoyed weir by being that specific.

project arcturus attempted to extract vacuum energy from normal space, rather than a universe in a bottle present in zpms. it didnt work because of exotic particles that were too badass to obey the laws of physics.

they later tried the same thing but just doing it in another universe, that had the problem that the people in the other universe didnt like it.

the weapon powered by arcturus was said to be similar in design to the lagrange defense stations, just using more power, so didnt need to buffer. but the weapon effect was different. the lagrange station used a green beam, that pierced straight through a hive, the newer outpost used a blue rapid fire pulse. which the daedalus could easily stop with its shields.

the daedalus has always had better shields that the wraith had its also quite possible that they wraith didnt have their shields up when the ancient weapons platform fired on it seeing as how it had not been active for 10000 yrs. The outposts weapon was more like a relief value than it was a weapon so it would not be very practical for it buffer. It reminded me of the ion cannons that the other group of humans from milky way galaxy had.

wraith ships had no shield tech, only hull regeneration.

the ion cannons were weilded by the tolans. they were rendered obsolete by anubis introducing more advanced tech.

???  did we now?  please refresh my memory.

sorry to be getting back so late, but it did occur to me after posting about the one base, the "mostly burried" castle thing (the tower) yous call it, or the Puddlejumpers-R-us  store.

so 2,  whole race of people and they had 2 base ships.
then there was the one rodney blew up, the space satalite gun thing, and the one with the volcano & starship garage underneath it. (stocked with the Orion)

it seems to come back to a numbers game, and it is no wonder the Wraith were winning the war

the wraith weren't winning until they got a hold of three zpms at which time there fired up the cloner and proceeded to build an army that so outnumbered them that they were able to defeat them even with the superior tech.

I believe that he is refereeing the the assault on the replicator homeword

There is no conclusive evidence that there were only two city-ships. It is possible that there are dozens lying around the Pegasus galaxy, but after 10,000 years it's likely that most are in the state that "The Tower" was in or worse. Many were probably destroyed by the Wraith, either during or after the war. Atlantis survived because it was submerged and protected by the shield and thus not exposed to nature. Had it been on land, it would probably be overgrown and a crumbling ruin. Mind you, that when the shield collapsed in another thousand or so years the whole place would have been flooded and again, useless.

The fact is we don't know exactly how long the Ancients actually inhabited the Pegasus Galaxy or to what extent they built outposts. Since they did not exactly have an interplanetary state such as the Federation in the works, the likelihood that they built outposts for governmental purposes is slim, most are probably for scientific purposes. Remember too that the Atlantis team only explored a fraction of that galaxy, it's possible they just didn't go to the planets with outposts. It's also possible, and perhaps more likely, that the outposts were destroyed either in the course of the war by the Wraith or by the Ancients as they were pushed back by the Wraith as a security measure. You don't want your enemies getting their hands on research that could be used against them or turned on you. When dealing with the Ancients you have to remember that you're seeing things 10,000 years after the fact; it's like looking at ancient China, you don't know how many official outposts the Chinese had in their empire, you don't know the size of their army, you don't know where the emperor's favorite vacation spot was, unless it was recorded. The Ancients had a huge database of information, but would take an army a lifetime to read, much less understand, and the Ancients are not known for being upfront about information; and remember, it's all in Ancient. So don't just assume that there were only the city-ships and outposts which we saw in the show, it's likely that there were many more, we just haven't found them.

i was talking about the time in early season four when shep's team went zpm hunting on the replicator homeworld, and used weir's brain like a linux box to hack the replicators. it turned out the replicators were too 1337 for them n00bz and hacked weir's brain so bad it looked like windows ME. then shep and his team were running away in a puddle jumper, they first intended to plug in the zpm to power the jumper's experimental hyperdrive ( which had JUST enough juice to do EXACTLY the distance they needed) cos they drained it on the first journey. but the daedalus came to the rescue and engaged a medium size replicator ship we only saw a couple times, it was smaller than an aurora, but still fired drones, just less drones. the daedalus' shields held, somehow the jumper got aboard without them lowering the shields and daedalus fired some missiles at the other ship which hit the shields and bounced off. cos they hadnt got the blue beam of death yet.

I practically cried laughing at your explanation! :D   Every episode of Stargate Atlantis should be reviewed this way.  That and Ronan's gun.

i love ronans gun, way more than turtles and mudkipz, ronans gun is the best energy weapon evarr. i mean its not the most powerful (starfleet compression rifle from voyager could kill a whole room) and it would probably run out of ammo like it did for sheppard, but it just looks so good.
