What I want to know is what 'it doesn't feel Trek' is supposed to mean?

It means he doesn't like it, therefore everybody should drop what they are doing and change it :). The Defiant didn't "feel" Federation by that same logic I guess though.... sooooo, let's create a new bunny-class! Fires carrots and fuzz at nearby starships. The ultimate in diplomacy!

Escort vessel, war ship take your pick but it is never referred to as a battleship in the DS9 series.

about 4 minutes.

Anyway, the federation and star fleet tend to avoid area of effect weapons to avoid collateral damage.
A good example of this is the ban on usage of subspace weapons and biogenic weapons.

By mentioning that the Phalanx doesn't feel "Trek" i mean that it moves away from federation principles.
One might say that the Defiant is not "Trek" or "Federation" but that vessel has been at the center of an entire series so that's really a fools argument.

Change the Phalanx weapons to a more directed weapon. Multiple microphoton torpedo launchers -> weapons mostly directed at small vessels, but usable against buildings + strong shields would make the Phalanx more "Trek" and viable as a high end vessel.

Then we have contradictory statements in Star Trek  :sweatdrop: What's new. :innocent:

Memory Alpha states its an escort vessel Escort vessel - Memory Alpha, the Star Trek Wiki

Escort is what it is officially registered as, not what it actually is. Sisko said Escort is just what they tell people it is.

It isn't contradiction, it's 'politically correct'. Can't have Starfleet ships listed in the database as 'flying death bringer'.

"Flying Death bringer" for the defiant.

If Star Fleet would ever manage to capture a borg Cube or Sphere, how would they classify it: Flying ball of mega Death?

Now, the promethius (lets ignore the silly MVAM) is a battleship, or something close to it.

The Prometheus is an experimental deep-space-cruiser. Tactical purpose yes, battleship no.

dont think that the defiant is the mega ubah death bringer, its a combat, ship, not more not less. The show just had a bit horrible scripting at some points. Might be more realistic to compare that ship class to the 2 that attacked the prometheus. So i gues it would be some kind of attack cruiser.

another good example of federation classification ... the nebula class is a light cruiser  :whistling:
gues that says all

I never said 'mega ubah'. It flies, it brings death and it brings it to the enemy instead of waiting. It's technically correct.
