Well i'm back with another update... I'm sorry the but the video has been posponed for now.... unfortuneatly. This time for the update tho i'll talk about the vulcans.

Now for the Devlopment process.. i want the vulcans to play smart.. i want them to feel seperior to the opponet even if you actualy aren't. I also wanted the feel of perfection and effencey.. and all this starts with the vulcan primary weapon.

As of Current... the Vulcan ship (Sotek Class, to be exact) is equiped with a weapon i refer to as Particle Rend.... Technicly it would be classified as a subspace weapon.. and therefore be banned... but the vulcans figured out by adding a unique catalyst to the weapon they could create a micro explosion after the inital effect... closeing the new rift. negating the conditions of the ban. This type of weapon is used in Stock fleetops As the Akira Photon Barage.. Or the Sang's Proton Warheads.. Its an AOE strike that will always hit the target intended...

Now.. if your scared of being evesierated by a weapon that can tear the space underneath you without effort and never miss is scary. Just wait till you experence the vulcans special Abilitys.

in the big pictures... vulcan abilitys are mainly defensive... or self buffing. as the primary weapon is already hypereffective... having more offensive abilitys would equal out to overkill..... But some of the vulcan Abilitys you can expect Are:

Harmonic Launcher: Normaly, the Particle rend weapon is medium range... but Harmonic launcher is a self buffing range booster.. Boosting the range to long, and later in the game.. Artillery....

Tactical Meld: Highly trained vulcan dark heretics have expanded upon there mental powers with 'unorthodox' training.. and are capable of projecting their powers across a large distance... this ability allows one of your operatives to meld with a person on an enemey ship... locating them... and allowing you to see their sensor radius....

Corbomite reflector: Yes thats right.. the A2 sovie special will make a return as a higher level ability... but it will only block beams... torpedos can still get through the webbing

Holograpic Decoy: this creates a holographic ship that can act as a decoy... this decoy can also be outfitted with a handful of special abilitys.
Holo decoys have low heath and shields but high regen rates. They can use variation of a teleport.. ram other ships... and take the aperence of anyship.. they can't do direct damage... and act purly as a tank

Holo illusion: this projects a holographic image over your ship... giving the aperence of a small dust field... particle rend is dissabled tho. and movment speed is reduced. however.. you will not be auto tageted.. nor will you apear on the minimap.

Rift Charge: The one offensive vulcan ability is a monster.... beaming a charge to a target location and watching the enemey die horribly is a sadistic solution to a threat.. especialy when its useable from stratigeic range. this weapon is a perfection of the Particle Rend Tech.. allowing you to create a rather large explosion... the effect also creates micro rifts in the hulls of ships that were close the event horizon.

I'm curious to know what the comunity thinks about the mod.. or what you guys want out of it... any thoughts?

I am looking forward to your mod. From what you have already put together there is already a lot of options. My hope is that this mod will be very replayable. Getting a wide variety of maps will help with that along with lots of different random events. My dream would be that even after playing many games I am still surprised by different ships appearing in the void, or other strange happenings.

Of course playing the mod will go a long way to form opinions. A release should help to get other people involved as well. Currently the void community is you and I - with occasional strangers passing through. :ermm:

Hopefully the random system planed will eventualy be increased to ulimited porportions.

And here.. yes. the forum support is quite small. ONline on teamspeak there are 8-9 people heavly involved. they just ain't here lol. =D

Good to hear about the randomizer. As for the other people on teamspeak - tell them hello from derentis. :lol:

Cool. I was glad to see so much information on the tooltip for the ship. I am not used to seeing a DPS stat there. That is nice to have. I am also curious to see what that Nanite Factory icon is for. :huh:

Alright guys, back with some good new and some bad new. Bad news first:

I'm taking a trip north for about 10 days starting next monday, and unfourtineatly, i'm not going to be able to do much modding during this time. this is gonna set me back as regards to my beta data (i shouldn't ever set dates in the first place) but i still aim for a september release.

Good news: the vulcans are nearing completeion. just about 5 more abilitys, (2 holoship, instant respawn, and the 2 vet ones) and the rank system and they are ready for beta. I'm still looking to included the AI in the beta, thus the pushed back date.

Its a Pity i'm starting with only 2 races tho.. oh well.

Hey, 2 races is a start. If the Fleetops Devs waited until all the races were done then there would still not have been any version. Get what you got out there and see what happens. As for the date, a small delay is fine. Its not like we have some other good Star Trek game to play. :rolleyes:

(I just realized the vulcans are missing their scout.. oops) :'(

upload the image to a site like photobucket/imageshack

get the direct link, and put it in img tags in your post, the forum automatically handles a bunch of stuff.

The photos are great, and they are Vulcans! :) They deserve a better place in the show and in FleetOps IMO, only on Enterprise they were given time on the screen but beside that not so much.
