Ick.
With all due respect to the creator of that Excelsior, it reminds me of back in the heyday of Armada 1 when everyone who fancied themselves a modder just stretched out existing crappy SODS and moved a few things around of added more nacelles and called it the
"USS Diabolical - Destructor Class Heavy Battleship"
- Armed with every heavy weapon imaginable, the Destructor Class was the brainchild of a rogue Borg that became a Starfleet Admiral by sleeping with enough Tal'Shiar men to have some strings pulled (so to speak). Thus, the Destructor Class is armed with Borg inspired Cophasic Torpedo Cannons fore AND aft that fire volleys of 10 torpedoes at 10 targets each.
OH, and it has transwarp that can go roughly 3/4 of a large warp (again owing to the Borg creator) and regenerative hull plating in case the shields fall. I wouldn't worry about that though seeing as it's shields are multipoly-layered and impervious to anything except Anthrax, SARS, and Avian Flu. Swine Flu?
Fuck Swine Flu.
There you have my totally original, as-close-to-canon-as-humanly-possible ship that I created on my own SOD editor in 5 minutes before my mom had to take me to the bathroom and re-wipe my ass.
... phew ...

Sorry but the stargazer was awful, and the Cheyenne is fugly. I rest my case.
Stargazer worked well, Cheyenne worked well. The Prometheus only works well as a 4-nacelle design if you can ignore the fact that it actually has 6...

Galaxy class refit ftw, why not make it the original galaxy class in the warp in and a refit for building, the last episode of TNG showed a galaxy class vessel being used and it was just modded to be updated and more powerful.

If you mean the tri-nacelled Galaxy-X, that is a very unpopular ship. Unfourtunatly, few people have good tastes... besides, that future was the only known timeline where it was seen (though I'm sure I saw one in 'Parallels'...).
A good 'Galaxy-II' would be the 25th century Galaxy (USS Pegasus) from Bridge Commanders 'DJ Galaxy Pack'. Similar without any unsightly kitbash look.

Galaxy-II? i dont think will happen, however you guys should try lobbing for a galaxy inspired ship.
like this one
[ Phoenix Archetypes - By: D. Phoenix ]
Considering that Doca Cola actually posted this one means that he likes it and your chances of getting the ship goes up.

I'd love to take that ship down with roughly 500 b'rels :p

That will teach me to try to out smartass a smartass... The Prometheus doesn't use all six nacelles until it goes into MVAM.

A Galaxy-II design truly doesn't seem all that far-fetched. As someone here already said, at FO's point in time, the Galaxy has become the TNG version of the Excelsior and Miranda. FO has made the Excelsior and Miranda-II designs to keep them alive in a sense, and I'm pretty sure the Klingon K'beajQ class was inspired from the good ol' K'tinga, becasue of her passive ability "The Everlasting Design." The Galaxy, to me at leasy, seems to be like a good all-around ship. The only serious downfall is the impracticalness of building the ship in seriously high numbers. I've heard that a reason don't like the Galaxy was such a crappy ship because of how many we saw destroyed in DS9. Except for the Oddssey, I believe I can chalk that up mainly to two reasons: A. If I remember correctly, the Dominion had LOTS of intel on the Feds BEFORE the war, and among that intel was the shield frequencies for Federation ships. Except for the suicide run, the Oddssey was taken down almost the same way the Enterprise was: They had shields, but the weapons went through them like a knife through soft butter. B. Originally, there were not supposed to be that many Galaxy-Classes that we saw during the war. As I remember, the Galaxy, Enterprise-D, Yamato, and possibly the Oddssey were supposed to be among the first six Galaxy classes launched, with maybe six or eight more unfinished spaceframes. We saw A LOT more than just 10 extra Galaxies during DS9. That leads me to believe that just about all the Galaxies we saw during the war were not fully completed ships, more likely not having leisure or recreation facilities like holodecks. Not fully completed ships undoubtedly will be less than fully functional or battle ready.
Getting back to what I was getting at before (man!!, that was drawn-out), a Galaxy-II design would be a nice and interesting ship to have around, simply not in large amounts. If a Galaxy-II design was ever to be implemented (not likely, with the way disscussions about the Galaxy in general are), it should get a cap like the Phlanax and Avalon do. Maybe even put it under the Mixed-Tech category. This seems to be a better plan than trying to bnag the devs into getting the normal Galaxy builable. Having the cap would prevent the spammed building of highly cost-innefective ships

Well, according to Mal's previous find on Memory Alpha, only a max of 10 are required to account for all the Galaxies. Oh, and one more thing, most of those Galaxies did not have registries
. So if we want to argue about graphics problems, we can even argue that those Galaxies (yes, the entire ship) was just put in cuz they had no other ship at the ready in the studio

The entire fleet in all DS9 battles were made by sticking whatever they could to fill space. Miranda, Excelsior, Saber, the lot.

Not counting the ones destroyed before the war.

Aye.
Like I've said before (and am a little embarrassed to repeat

It's not a bad thing, it's just economics

Sacrifice of Angels specifically uses the Galaxy to greater effect to show that the Federation are serious about getting through to DS9; that this is a desperate gamble. Galaxies were, at the time of the episode, regarded as the biggest and most powerful vessel the Federation really had access to and that using them in "wings" (SOOOO cool) was intended to blast a whole in the Dommie lines that the smaller ships could exploit. They know we love the Galaxy after TNG and seeing it in action is very exciting. That's why a Galaxy was destroyed in first contact with the Dominion: because it strikes us personally as they basically represent everything stable in TNG

Anyway ... I'll stop rambling. But I just really feel like you guys who KEEP pushing for the galaxy should think about what the Galaxy is supposed to be: a powerful ship (which it is) that is reserved for special occasions due to it's myriad of uses. If I were you, I'd stop arguing for it's inclusion as a buildable unit and start coming up with more interesting special abilities other than torpedo spread to make it feel like a more useful ship. I'd start suggesting that it be more of a "Battlecruiser" instead of a "Battleship" by giving it some useful but practical special abilities. There are no support ships in the warp-in so c'mon ... come up with something interesting and do this great ship some credit.

Indeed. I think it's far more interesting to keep it as a warp in. In the show, we saw mostly other ships with 1 or 2 galaxies in a shot, mostly there to make a presence. It wouldn't look right in a ds9 battle if they just spammed galaxies at the dominion fleet, with only a few other ships. Well, that's the way FO is. If you spam them, it's not going to look right. I usually get 1-2 with warp in. Just enough to make a presence, just enough to look like "in the show".
