it isnt.
ray was initially proposing simply increasing its offensive strenght by a few points, nothing much. Unfortunately ppl - as is becoming so common around here - jumped the gun in trying to praise their own skills, and detracted making this issue drag on. The sov at starting 42 or 40 instead of 38 is all that was being initially driven at.

The durability issue has already been answered in the idea to switch the akira's special for sovies. that, together with the veteran and double gold bar rank ascension bonuses should have already resolved this thread.

No idea why we're still beating a dead horse

well i suggested glaxy ambasodor and some other older ships, but there to old according to all of you, then i suggest refits, but then people say im ripping it of of romies, and that feds donjt refit, which is total crap, feds is probably the most refit intesive race, so i suggest new ones, but there to futuristic, and not federation enough

the roms do not refit. They build modular ships that can but added on to at a later date. Just like the fed defence platforms.

Why don't we stick with the ships the Federation has, keep the warp-ins (the Ambassador should be in the next patch or two, and there's been talk of adding the Centaur as well), and maybe add a few more mixed-tech ships and a unique unit or two with the third avatar if the FO team takes it in that direction? Adding more ships just because they look cool doesn't really contribute to gameplay unless you can figure out a unique and appropriate function for them.

actuall if you read the project progress you can see that several new fed ships are planned.

Replacements for what? The only FO design for the Federation that I really don't care for is the Remore-class, and it's pretty easy to completely forgo building those things in the course of a game.

I would guess the Ambassador-class is to be a warp-in, and I don't know about the Nova-class, although I think it'd be a good Borg/Federation mixed-tech ship.

its completely valid to request new models, however lets try to kepe this topic on the Sovereign

We have taken a look at the STO vessels, some have interesting design elements, but we dislike the overall style. We are all fans of the "TNG/DS9" style of Federation vessels, clean and simple geometries. There are even some official Star Trek design guidelines you can follow that lead to similar results, like the Descent :) we try to follow them as close as possible.
Replacing vessels is not a thing of a day. a good model takes arround a week or two, and we have other stuff to do at the moment too, like working on the recently announced Veterans. I think we can include a STO ship or two as a map object in the future, but not with high priority.
