We're pretty hopeless if we're debating the canonization of a 'Cardassian' beverage. Let's look in the mirror for a minute.

It was a fantastic movie!

"Debating the canonization of a 'Cardassian' beverage is illogical."

"Who ever said Star Trek Fans were logical?"

:D

Well, let's say discussing the believability of story facts in a Star Trek movie ... is fun? ;)

I only say: damn JJ Abrams!  >:(
I watched Alias, Lost and MI:3, and I begin to understand much more about him. I think he's a man with a great immagination, but with a HUGE ego too. They give him the chance to place his hands over Star Trek and he soon realized it could be another chance to revolutionate the world.
I can't believe it: destroy Vulcan??? VULCAN??? 10000 Vulcans left???! What could ever be the Federation withoud Vulcan to bound human emotions?? What can happen now in the 24 century without the influence of vulcan philosophy? I was happy and satisfied when I watched TNG, because it let me hope of a future without anger, wars, famine, diseases. A perfect future where every one can find his place in the universe (at least on Earth).
But now? Without Vulcan Earth could potentially become another merciless empire, like romulan or klingon's one, or worse, it can become oversized by the other empires: don't forget that at the beginning of the federation's history the vulcan's science and tecnologies aided humans to reach the stars.

Really, I'm disappointed... I feel betrayed  :(

I can only imagine..... the start of an Empire that is waging war with the Romulans repeadedly to avenge the Vulcans.

The only thing that can be worse is when the Borg come, will the Feds get wiped out?

Terran Empire caused by the lack of Vulcans... I wonder how that would play out...

Although "In a mirror darkly" seems to show the mirror universe split much earlier with ours than TOS.

umm,  has anyone seen a little show called ENTERPRISE?

the "evil empire" was in full effect when Cmdr Archer got his hands on the constatution class Defiant

That was only one of an infinite number of possibilities, and was a mirror of a different universe.

That is true........ though I only wonder which of these will occur out of my view point of most likely possibilities...

Most likely 24th century possibel standings of the 'Federation' in the movie's timeline:
- They'd be conquered by the Klingon Empire
- They'd be at war with the Romulan Empire
- They'd be assimilated by the Borg upon their 1st visit
- They'd become an empire in constant conquest to conquer any who oppose
- They'd be conquered by the Cardassian Union
- They'd be at war with the Breen (that just came into my head)
- The Federation would follow a similar course of the "Prime Timeline"

By the way, the split from canon universe and mirror's one is far earlier: in that episode of Enterprise they show how Zephram Cochrane, instead of meeting the first vulcan visitor pacefully, shot him and stole his ship... But I believe the differences goes far beyond that, just like in a "mirror" :)
Personaly I can't believe the Federation can survive without Vulcan.

Some consequences are:
- Extinction of all Vulcans (they reproduce once in 7 years, with 10000 left they will become extinct in a few centuries)
- "Rebooted" Spock will die killed by Khaan (assuming that the new univers will follow the canon events), cause they revived it on Vulcan.
- All other Vulcans from the other series died: Tuvok from VOY, the evil guy Syboc from Star Trek V, that ensign from some episodes of TNG, and so on...

Oh my... I'm still shocked XD
