Having a larger crusier UNABLE to hit at that range however, does not make sense.

The game probably only shows the most effective range, rather than actual range. If it went by actual range, everything would probably be artillery.

I wonder if it's the brawler of the Warp-Ins?

What makes sense in terms of the Star Trek Universe does not always make sense in terms of a balanced real time strategy game  :sweatdrop:

the ambas being best at long SHORT range comes from canon. it was more manoeuverable than its romulan counterparts at the time, dancing around them.

EDIT: the worst typo i could have made in that post, it made my point completely opposite from what i wanted.

Maneuverability is one of the main advantages of the Defiant, which is always at close range. We never saw how far an Ambassador can fire from before losing effectivness, or even saw one fighting at all.

It's also fighting a lot of ships that it wouldn't outclass in that area as much as an early Warbird, which would likely hurt its effective range.

we saw the ent c fighting in the alternate timeline. it was on approach to the funny funnel so we cant deduce much from that.

but yar kept drilling into their heads that they should take advantage of speed and maneouverability and zip around the romulan warbirds (never said specifically to be big d) which makes it clear that the ambas is good at short range dancing stuff. kinda like a defiant, just not as exagerrated.

Doesn't that support it being short-range? You said canon supports long in your previous post.

will correct the typo, then get some sleep :sweatdrop:

Couple of things id like to clear up here, this thread is about the Ambassador Class history.
Id would also like to add i have been screaming for the Ambassador's range to change, so with that said i will get back to more history of this ship shortly. After doing some more reading i found out over 150 ships were built weather that's 100% certin will never know. I did see that 38 are still active, though there role's are now for border, or starbase protection, BULLSHIT i thought to myself. I see the Excelsior Class was obsolete by the end of the 23rd century.

Doing some more reading i found out the Yamaguci was destroyed at WOLF 359, the original Excalibur was knocked out by the klingon's, The U.S.S. RANGER is active, Excalibur 2 is active, as is the U.S.S. Ambassador is active. Most of us know's what happened to Enterprise NCC-1701-C. I must say i really like the look's of Ambassador its got a rough but yet educated snarl to it.

AMBASSADOR CLASS 3 REFIT-U.S.S. GANDHI-26632 Is the last of the upgraded class of the Ambassador Class. This refit will allow this class of ship's to go well into the 25 century, 13 phaser array's 3 torpedo tube's warp speed well over warp 9.4, and a crusing speed of warp 6. This is the most powerful of the Ambassador Class family yet, easily matching up to a Galaxy Class starship. These are the upgraded version's that would match a Galaxy Class that i had mentioned before.
Captian Rachel Garett commaned Enterprise NCC-1701-C for tewnty years. MARK 3 IS THE TEACHNICAL NAME FOR THE CLASS. MARY ROSE another Ambassador Class served for over 77years, part of the 6th Fleet, whom fought the Dominion, during the Dominion War, she was finally taken off of active duty in 2405.
