The Steamrunner has Phasers, not Photons. The 'Mission Scout' was never called the Venture and the existence of the Excelsior-II shows ships can have similar appearance but not similar tech/weapons. The one from the movie was also more of a Runabout, rather the scout in A2 (just a name really, since both are the same thing).

Justify the Ventures weapons as a product of being refitted for a specific role, like the Nebula's weapons.

Galaxy Class have their power neutered by the fact that most ships here are warships. Warships aren't always the strongest by default, but have an advantage over peacetime ships (even Battleships).

To add to what Tyler stated, this game takes place in the future.  ^-^  You can't compare the ships in TNG, DS9 and Voy to what occurs in Fleet Ops because you don't know how things have changed.  :whistling:

Optec, thank you for you answer to my question, just to restate

My question was basically just about service periods, i was not saying bring back nebula and excelsior, i was only questioning, what i had seen as build periods and such, and wondering whether: A we would seem some ships possibly retiring, like intrepid akira..... and B if not A then why isnt steamrunner producable, might i also reccommend, that id be nice if feds had a long range artillery, maybe steam mk2?

that is all.

Thanks, you can close this thread if you wish optec, it seems as if its getting out of hand already.

any time anybody talks about the feds its war lol. the fed haters line up against the fed lovers and then someone mentions the word underpowered or galaxy or sovvie and it kicks off.

Exactely, which is why i was trying to not get into that, i had a simple question, all i needed was a simple answer, now by close this thread i mean this, people stop posting, and optec come along and make a final post hopefully answering my question on page 5, which was also my original question, and close it, so we can stop this fed fighting.

Ray, I answered your question on page 3, reply 33 using a quote from Optec.  What else is there? :)

And I don't think there are fed haters out there?  I actually love playing the federation.  I just want them to be equal and balanced compared to other races.  The devs seem to be thinking the same thing. ^-^

The Feds will have their haters, everything does.

Nobody's hating on the Feds here .... many of us just feel sick :x to our stomachs when people aggressively want arbitrary improvements to the Feds without having played online to see balancing for themselves.

THAT'S what I hate :D.  Feds are finally close to balance.  I don't want that to change :).

well, at least in my sight its this way:
feds wont get any luv, mainly because sfc makes em quite strong in multiplayer. Actually i dont know what the sfc should actually be or why its ingame like it is. so in my sight it could be removed and replaced by something different that is unique in this game, specally because it makes so much balancing trouble and is easily abused in multiplayer

Dunno how others think about that, but thats at least my sight of the stuff

I believe it was originally added in it's current form because those "pesky" fed lovers :P wanted warp put back in.  This was a creative way to add warp while still making things balanced.  SFC is much better now and well get some additional changes so that's it's not just an extra free yard, from what I understand.

Also, why do you think the feds don't get any love? :sweatdrop:  They got the nova, which is a great ship, and mayson gets some pretty mean enhancements to his turrets.  Also, risner got an artillery turret now.  The canaveral has a special that turns it into a much more durable ship.  The saber's special makes it more durable vs. short ranged ships.  That's a lot of love right there, but people are rarely satisfied and always want MOAR!!!!

I'm not talking game-wise, I mean in general. Everything is hated by someone.
