Technicly Proton torpedoes are just refined nucclear war heads and a single photon topedo has a yeild of 18.5 isotons and quantum topedoes go beyond photon topedos yeild to by a considerable amount.
here is a web site that caluculates the yeild of a photon torpido http://www.cakes.mcmail.com/StarTrek/photontorpedo.htm

and the ISD shielding/ armor is not that tough because in one of the movies an A-wing which is the litghest armed/shield fighter some how manages to crash into the ISD tralle all the way though it and destroy the ship. So all you really would need is line up a shuttle on auto pilot engage the warp drive and there you go one toasted ISD.

oh **** i remember that B)

dont photons go up to 80 isotonnes?

the A-wing crashed into the bridge of that ISD, and that tookout the shield generators, and every ship near by concentrated their fire on it, the a-wing didn't destroy it all by itself you know.

now i'm not saying i like starwars better than star trek, actually it's the other way around, but i am into details.

Oh, the victory star destroyers are just older star destroyers, they’re not classified as frigates. (I think)

Sorry I haven't watched the movie in a long time. My mistake

They are classified as frigates, they are an older model your right, the predecessor of the ISD, but due to their lack of firepower compared to the newer vessels they have been classified as assault frigates.

Now as I recall...photon torpedos are imaginary technology...so all of this information's source is simply sepeculation...I mean I realize technology is a huge part of star trek, but you have to realize half of these "statistics" are made up, that's why I don't use them in my arguments, because there is no real way to confirm the information.

Proton torpedos are not simply refined nuclear warheads, their detonation only releases trace amounts of radition...otherwise the crew shown on the impact points (Battle over Yavin IV, the proton torpedo missed and impacted on the hull of the Death Star, showing the crew inside disoriented from the impact.)would have died from acute radation poisoning, even with the Death Star's thick armour. I'm going to assume that they use some form of explosive we've never heard of throughout the movies and books.

The sheild generators are a weakness, one of the only things I HATE about ISDs, the large sheild generator balls on either side of the command bridge. Once the sheilds failed, concentrated fire is obviously going to destroy it...Take the strongest starfleet ship, strip away the sheilds and what do you have? A thin peice of tin flying through space, begging to be shot  But it still took concentrated fire to penetrate the ISDs armour and defeat the ship. The sheild generators look just plain stupid, and they provide an open target.

Perhaps the photons and quantums would do more damage than I expect, and they might destroy an ISD if a sov unloaded it's compliment of 50 quantums on it (Thats just from bridge commander, don't bombard me with statistics). My point about that is, the ISD has several hundred turrets and many torpedo tubes, so whist your sovereign could destroy the ISD, it isn't going to do it in the 3 torpedo volleys that the tubes allow, while an ISD could launch a mass amount in one volley because they have more torpedos and more torpedo tubes. Your sovereign would be destroyed by the shear amount of impacts from the Turbolasers, autoturrets, planetary assault cannons, heavy guns, and proton torpedos.

are you sure they're frigates? i thought they were "patrol cruisers" or destroyers rather.

That's what it said...

Google define says "Frigate is a name which has been used for several distinct types of warships at different times. It has referred to a variety of ship roles and sizes. In the age of sail, it referred to a ship smaller and faster than a battleship, used for patrolling and escort work rather than fighting fleet actions. .." and to add a little starwars flare they are used in main battles, but as support ships, not warships.

funny, i use vic and vic II class warships in SW:FC all the time, they do a pretty good job. i guess the voctory has a special place in my heart (from playing SW tie fighter too much in my youth).

i use vics as warships too, nasty little buggers and you can get a task force of vics faster than you can of isd's

I use them to take out groups of rebel fighters and smaller capital ships such as nebulon b frigates and bulk cruisers. They are also useful at getting an early jump on the enemy planets, just have a colony ship come with and bombard the planet and take it yourself ;)

I love SW: FC  however unfinished as it may be...that was dissapointing, but I still love what parts of it we have :)

my only complaint with 1.1 or was it 1.2 was that the warhead replenishment doesn't work.

now with SW:FC strategy, i like the imperials. i mainly use a large force of vics and vic2s, and if i use them smartly (mainly in bait and slaughter tactics), i can field 2-4 sovie SSDs, very very quickly.

lmao sovies? uhm, you ever done the math on the building time of those? it's 2018 seconds roughly, which is 33.64 minutes...Uhm, yeah, see...That's a half an hour, and I'd be lucky if I can build one of them before I get annoyed and slaughter the rebels with regular ISDs  and you only need one sovvy to kill anything really...Just destroy the ion cannons before they disable your ship, and your cleared to vaporize the rebel scum

actually i usually play against 3-4 com players, 2 rebs and a imp, and i use one or two of em for defense (nothing can stand up to em), and the rest on attack. and with 4 super yards it only takes about 45 min, for me to field them. it's fun to watch like 20 isd and vsd trying to take one down while 10-20 reb cruisers are trying to at the same time. what a show. :o

Egh, that's no fun :P Use the Superlasers for defense like I do, I have like 20 or 30 of them on each base lol, i drop um like turrets ;) :D

i use golon III's and super lasers too. but have you used capt_rikers AI upgrade for SW:FC. makes it far more difficult.
