I just c&p'ed it.  Blame memory alpha.  Heck, blame the DS9 tech manual.

Also, why exactly do you think that it couldn't possibly be that long?  We never saw it compared to anything in FC, and I don't recall anything like that in DS9 either.  Again, I could be wrong, but I don't believe so.

Here's a comparison chart.  Sabre somewhere near bottom on right.

Oh, and a schematics chart just for fun!

Where is that junk from?!

The Sabre is only one deck tall, if you were to believe it's comparison to the Sovy...

and since when is the promie smaller than an excelsior? that can't be right

RedShirt:  I don't see your problem, the sovy looks more than ten times as thick as the sabre!  And that thickness isn't just attributed to the deck itself, the engines are underneath.  So it looks perfectly realistic to me, even if the sovy has 29 decks!

Casper:  The promie is a small ship.  Remeber, it's full crew consists of only about 10 people.  Excelsior holds several hundred.

There is one concern I have however, I always thought the galaxy had a much wider saucer than the sovy, and I also thought the nebula and galaxy had identical saucers, so shouldn't the nebula be a bit bigger?

Mort, don't you see that the Sabre is about as tall as the Sovy's bridge module?

There's no way in heck that that's even remotely possible.  Either the Sovy is too big or the Sabre's too small.  Nothing more to it.

So, you admit that the comparison chart is inaccurate?

Yeah.  I also found that the nebula should be much wider.

Here is a much more accurate one from EAS.

hahaha, 10 people... you 'aving a larf?, and despite speculation the prommie is NOT all that small. it is in fact just short of the size of the Akira.

@red that definately seems more acurate.

i still don't think the excelsior is that large. and the "excelsior II" in the chart is it a basic TNG era excelsior, the lakota subtype, or the enterprise B subtype? (don't think it's the basic tng one, that looks like it should be the excelsior I)

the excelsior I, is the "USS Excelsior" version, albiet with system upgrades & whatnot. the Excelsior II is most likely the "Enterprise B" subtype, because the was only one lakota type ever made: hardly enough to call it a class.
besides it is probably easier to build an entirely new ship than upgrade the existing Excelsiors up to the "Lakota" standard.

And yes the excelsior is quite large.
