yep i think these origin does not match the star trek story, cause in first contact they try to contact the borg of the 21 century. vygr (or which other letters were unreadable ) was a few years later

Actually Voyager 6 or V'Ger was launched by NASA in i believe the and disappeared into a black hole. It emerged on the other side of the galaxy somewhere. Now no cannon proof is given..but the theory is that it encountered a group of early machines..and they merged Voyager's programing with their own. They learned of the existence of organic life forms and began evolving over time. They would "assimilate" organic beings/humanoids to learn more about them and over time that programming evolved as well..until the Borg were born.. The Borg of the 21st century would not pose much of a threat to 24th century technology..but would pose a threat to 21st technology...or even 22nd century technology ala the Enterprise era

The Voyager Probe, if lauched in the 20th Century would be 200 years old by the Enterprise-Era (400 by TNG). The Vaadwaur claimed to have encountered the Borg before their stasis began, sometime in the 15th century. That would make the Borg older than the V'Ger probe.

I think I remember hearing somewhere that it went into a black hole and emerged having tumbled either forward or backward in time.

It says in the video that it fell into a black hole where space and even [glow=orange,2,300][shadow=red,left]time[/shadow][/glow] are bent.

so its entirely possible that when Voyager6 fell through the BlackHole it emerged somewhere in the Delta Quadrant maybe 5 or 600 years in the past...and it would take a long time to get from the Delta Quadrant to the Alpha Quadrant as we all know from ST: Voyager

Especially if you remember how slowly the probe/cloud thing traveled in the movie. It was really quite slow.

Really? It seemed to get from Klingon space to Earth kinda quick. Quicker than a Borg Ship at impulse, at least.

What about the Unicomplex? I am pretty sure that I saw several Cubes being built there. I think that the Borg just have a design, and they just use whatever materials that they had to finish it. Does everybody recall the infamous Doomsday Machine?  The Borg probably would assimilate a ton of technology, and then build a ship personally (Like a cube) Integrating pieces from the assimilated vessel. If they had to assimilated several vessels just to make one ship, then they would probably have, like three Borg cubes, especially when you see how huge those things are. I bet that you are right about Borg making their ships out of assimilated enemy vessels, but not all of the time, especially not the all of them.

I'd keep the Auto-Assimilator, it seems more believable than crew being transported by a Cutting beam.

I think the Borg just melt down enemy vessels and incorporate their technology (if useful) into their vessels, however if you look at the durability of Borg armor and hull you will notice it is far more durable than whatever Starfleet, the Klingons or any other race we can gauge has been using for armor. So it is my deduction that the Borg simply convert all unusable metals to a substrate from which they generate their far superior hull plating, I also believe that all borg cubes are constructed, rather than 'assembled' from assimilated vessels, hence their consistent size and (at least in voyager) their consistent configurations.

Due to their enhanced propulsion systems they probably use super heavy alloys mixed with ceramic-type alloys to dissipate heat with maybe an integrated  force field for more protection... but who knows, as the star trek universe has warp afterall
