TCR_500 wrote:The time is irrelevant.  It's the resource costs to the vessels offensive, defensive, and system values that's the problem.  A player is going to spend about 1.3 times more Dilithium and Tritanium to get a vessel that is only 1.25 times more powerful than the other vessel.

Time is always your most valuable resource in an RTS i have played many games where if i could spend ill my resources i would win but i was limited by time so i lost.

Exactly, Dircome. Time is a resource, and theres a murky time/cost ratio for units.

Alright ....

This is an open challenge to anyone who feels that the Federation is underpowered:

Boggz is more than happy to squash you with the Fedrats in a 1 v 1 game at any time of your choosing.  I'll wake up at 4 in the morning to lay to rest the CONSTANT notion that the Feds are underpowered.  I'll play against whatever player you'd like, with them being whatever race you'd like if you don't feel you are skilled enough to do the example justice.

This is an open mother-f*cking challenge .  I will prove to all of you that the Fedrats will still conquer the quadrant :D.

Boggz, this is not very helpful. You'd munch the most of us with every race :D

I did a test battle between 14 Monsoons and 11 Intrepids.  Without the Proximity torpedoes, the Monsoons will loose.  Even if the Intrepids have Tricobalt torpedoes, the Proximity torpedoes are enough to turn the tides in battle.  The Monsoons will win only if they have Proximity torps.  Or if they are the closest to the shipyard,

lol, if anything the feds are OP.  I just creamed the AI borg Mercilious without even trying.  When I can do that, there is no way the feds are underpowered. :whistling:

Borg are easy enough to beat if you can out spam/counter them in early to mid game. It's not til they get sphere spam up that they become a problem.

The AI are stupid.

By the way, does the offensive value take a ships specials into account?  Like the Monsoons proximity torpedo?

nope

It seems that there's an error either in the guide or in the Intrepid.  According to the guide, the Intrepid doesn't have any passives against short-ranged vessels, yet during a test, the 14 Monsoons should won against 11 Intrepids without either side having any specials.

According to the guide, the Intrepid fleet's offensive value should be reduced from 209 to 188.  The original Intrepid Advantage is 13 Offensive and -32 Defensive.  The Monsoons should have won even without the passives or the specials.  With the passives, according to the guide, the Monsoons should now have an advantage of 8 Offensive and 32 Defensive.  That turns the offensive advantage to the Monsoons.  Yet it takes having proximity torpedoes to actually win, when it shouldn't.  Either it's a problem with the guide not showing all of the Intrepids passives, or it's a bug with the Intrepid.

Did you take into account the Monsoons reduced damage dealt to short-range units? Damage reduction + lower values.
