Agree with Myles, mark is good but he must have had lag, the Levals should have been able to eat that E2 or a few sabres.

As for turrets, unless you go fed torp turrets, in which case you are not building as many ships, then the auto assim will NOT die fast enough to matter and will just stand off out of it's range.

I had a match the other day where the guy did that, I assimed his mining station right next to the phaser turret, then I just let the mining station tank for my assim and scubes and probes while I killed the turret.

I didn't get the cash for decoming the mining station because I ended up just stealing the expansion, but I got the turret down and he lost the expansion compleatly, plus I stole a intrepid, moonsoon, and two sabres, and best of all three mining ships, during that engagement, the mining ships.

Turrets are only as strong as how easily they can kill the closest target, if you just swap a damaged ship for an undamaged one, and keep shooting, they die fast enough.

Would someone care to test both the lahval and the assim strategy on me right now? I have some free time that is starting to turn into a premium. Jr. Year is very demanding so far. @ Tok ra, the fed torpedo turrets would do less damage to assims with torpedo modules, so phaser turrets would be best.

Well, your micro is superior, but i really wanna see if the Assim rush is counterable by Feds atm.

So, let's try it the next days?

Possible way to fix Assim rush being so powerful:
1-allow for recapturing of stations that are being decommissioned (but only in the first five seconds o decmommissioning) and then autocancel the decom once retaken. Mining stations are really the reason for this, since they go down fast even if you beam onto them from multiple other stations, and all a Borg player needs to do is hit delete and BAM that station is gone for good right now.
2-Raise Monsoon and B'rel crew count a bit so that they are better as counters against the Assim.

Well, I personally think that the Assim is fine. :)

Funny please also show kamk that the scube rush is quite powerful vs Fed : ) he claimed that Fed > Opti

Assimilate > Feds > Optimize.

Well, that's something that Acheron and OTP claim as well, and many many more.

Drrrr, let us try it. Your Borg gameplay should be like my Duel play - far away from good or nearly non existent :lol:

Clint and I actually did a test on the Fed v. Opti maybe a month ago.  I was Opti and we determined that it's very possible for the Borg to actually box the Fed in almost entirely with the initial Scube / Probe rush focused on Di miners.

  The result was that I prevented him from expanding for about 3/4 of the game while I took 2 expansion and made it to CC level 3.  Problem was that, with phaser turrets, repair yards, and warpins I just couldn't crack his base.  As long as he had the warping available he really didn't need the expansions for a good period of the game.  It became a very boring waiting game with both of us trying out various ways of cracking the other's strategy.

  The result was: that I completely decapitated him at the very beginning, but could never finish him.  I eventually lost due to a mistake I made (a VERY common one...) that let him expand.  Game was essential over from there.  What we gleaned from it was that Opti CAN severely restrict the Feds at the beginning, but that even with a vast difference in resources it only takes a few mistakes to lose.

That is also my experience. The early game can be extremly hard for Feds against a good Borg rush. If you dont manage to slowly get crit mass and know where to place turrets you are out pretty fast. Boggz did you use Scubes+Probes only or did you mix in other things as well? how about a relay dode at the exp for example.

I used Scube/Probe followed by Dodes and Adaptors.  I suppose I could have tried to use a Dode Turret buth that's not really my style =D.

lol................  have all of you been ignoring replay matches?

Firstly: Boggz vs Arash8472 Round 2 Game 1 Spring 2011 - The Hitchhiker's Guide to Fleet Operations

now as you can see I was only able to BEAT fed with transmission matrix

So in conclusion borg need a "Free" tech up to Transmission matrix in order to beat evil federation

FYI: i saw where boggz kept on expanding so i went there (not by total luck like the commenter say)

The Borg are Evil. Good shall always destroy evil. Hence, Feds always win.

Federation = Lawful good.
Klingon = Lawful neutral.
Borg = Lawful evil/neutral.
Dominion = Lawful evil.
Romulan = Neutral evil.

Feds must hav it pretty good if winner is determined by alignment. :lol:

Not always, sometimes villains win. Even in Star Trek.
