All screenshots, including the Defiant ones, are in game, however the models are in alpha/beta stages and any mistakes you might notice on the Defiant or any other ship, are due to this.

If you check the website link posted in the first post, you'll notice that they're doing weekly updates. They won't say percentage wise how much they have done, but I think they're at at least 50%. This Saturday, they are revealing the User Interface. It seems most of the engine is done, as they are freely talking about the weapons systems and stuff. Also, the single player campaign's story has been completed, as they aren't taking any suggestions about how it should go. I should know, they turned down my suggestion to have the Kobayashi Maru as a training mission.

I have been folowing this for a while, personaly im very excited, Star Trek is a kind of thing where making a game is hard, you will NEVER please everyone, Its the community that has made good games like Bridge commander, Legacy and Armarda 1 and 2. Into great games

Yeah all it needs now is a descent in the game
Hey after they are done making this maybe they will consider making an FO game.

I think they'll be so in love with their brainchild that they'll continue working on it as fervently as they worked on Bridge Commander.

I wouldnt have said we are at 50% - in fact I wouldnt want to assign a percentage right now. There is still alot of coding going on with the engine at the moment though we have four programmers working on that now so things are moving really fast there. Ship and Interior Modelling is moving forward as can be evidenced by our weekly updates, however the list of things to be done is still much greater than what has been completed.
Work on the engine itself however is almost completed and obviously once that is done, our scripters can get to work and the coders working on the engine can be re-assigned to other areas - so draw waht conclusions you will about where we are, from these comments.

Well, if you are actually talking about making the game itself, then yes, you probably are at less the 50%. But if you count writing the story, picking what ships you want in the game, the UI, and etc, then yes, you've probably done 50%.

Hi Everyone,
This is Mark, Lead Artist for the project and Ive been checking some of the reactions in this thread and I am really pleased the majority of you approve of what we are doing. I just wanted to respond to a couple of your comments in person.
I'm not sure where you are looking there, but as my colleague Zach said those pics are taken from the game, and we actually have that Defiant looking much sleeker than that now if you check our latest updates at STExcalibur.com (and we are planning more improvements for the Defiant model as the engine supports more things).
Well, I'm slightly bemused by your judgment of our whole project based on that one problem, its a bit like throwing a gold ring away because its got a scratch that can be easily polished out by a jeweler.
We do respond to constructive criticism through our forums wherever we can, and in fact I quite often fix small problems with ships which are picked up by the fans who check our site regularly. If you would like to raise the issue through our site I will try improve the model for you.
We are less than 50% however you look at it but what we do have is, as a matter of opinion, very good stuff. We are getting help and advice from members of the Star Trek family who helped bring you the original shows and as such we are actually creating new Star Trek content which lives up to the heritage that those shows left us with.
When you also consider that we are talking about a huge game which will offer much more than any commercial Trek game you have seen in a very long while, less than 50% isn't a bad place to be at this point in time.
With you there
but wherever people want to work with us we will do our best to accommodate their suggestions.
If anyone has any more points or questions either post them here or find me over at the main site, thanks again everyone.

Guess that's the beauty of the shape of the original model from TNG - sleek and curved.
For someone who looks at the D'Deridex especially as a mark of the modder's modeling skills, this BC successor which is being raved about isnt all that...

Hi Mark, this was a rather old post of mine

Of course I would not judge the project based on that one shape. I was only commenting on the modeling of that one ship as a potential reflection of a mod that was otherwise unknown to me. I'm sure you understand how first impressions are usually the most lasting.
It is, however, nice to hear that your team is receptive to the comments and opinions of us fans. I'll be sure to visit your site soon.

Meh, if you want people to think it'll take another two years of waiting, that's fine by me. I just want to get people hyped up.

Who are you over at BCC?
I don't see how they'd get in trouble with Paramount. It's completely fan made, including the music (can't say that about Fleet Ops though.)

it's amazing.. that the really good star trek game experience isn't made by big companies, but by fans.
