The other day i stumbled onto a team that was working a new star trek mod. However this is not just a bridge commander mod the people at Star Trek Excalibur have teamed to gether with the people at NanoFX Evolved to create a new game engine that will be very similar to bridge commander.

Their work so far looks very impressive here are some pictures.

Now if only they would have modeled the Descent instead of the Excaliber, o well.
Anyway check it out. Also could you guys give me some pointers about posting pictures because i don't like the way these pictures take up so much space.

this looks really cool!

what about the gameplay? what i'd like would be a mix from bc and sfc. i really liked the freedom to refit my ship how ever i want in sfv3 but the full 3d environment of bc was more fun to fly around.

Not sure but i don't think it will be like that. You have to do some poking around to find out, i just discovered it the other day and i am not sure about all of the features yet.

I've been following this for a while now, and it just looks sooooo gooood... I want it now! :crybaby:

I mean, just look at that Defiant! I understand that it isn't actually in game (cut/paste mistake at the lower right? :whistling:), but come on!

I should mention: Who remembers that mod for BC that allowed you to walk around the bridge?
They're gonna do THAT, but BETTER :D

somehow ppl have trouble getting the exact shape and angles of the D'Deridex right.
Either some make it flat, or some make it too thick,

Even FO lacks the upper hump ridge if u look closely enough. It has the correct angles, but the upper ridge that typically leads into the D'Derized's bridge is missing in even the FO model.

Serpicus, are you now arguing with yourself about the D'deridex's shape?

lol. tssk tssk.. is everything an argument to you  :innocent:

the D'Deridex is flat. Seems no one gets the shape perfectly right.
Guess that's the beauty of the shape of the original model from TNG - sleek and curved.

For someone who looks at the D'Deridex especially as a mark of the modder's modeling skills, this BC successor which is being raved about isnt all that...

hope u understand now.. :sweatdrop:

not everything is argumentative u know. ;)

i checked all the variants on their website - the DS9 variant, the TNG variant, and all were pretty much the same.

I dunno. But although it is very very detailed - which kinda makes it look cool, the lack of canonocity on the shape is a bit of a bummer.

Fo's model comes closer to the contours and grace of the traditional D'deridex. except as i said above - the FO model lacks the upper hump that feeds into the bridge of the vessel, but other than that the FO model is truer to the source.

oh well. that's my 2 cents worth. over and out.

Hi There Folks,

My name is Zach and I am one of the PR Guys from the Excalibur Dev Team.  Stumbled upon this thread and thought i'd register and answer some of your questions.

Alot of Gameplay elements are still being decided on, however we are probably not going to be including many elements from SFC3.  Think "Bridge Commander" meets "Elite Force 1".

We are going to have exterior ship views and environments similar to Bridge Commander, albeit with up to date graphics, however you will also have the ability to go inside your ship.  You will not be limited to the Captains chair as in Bridge Commander - you'll be able to get up out of your captains chair, interact with stations and people on your bridge and then visit other areas of your ship such as the transporter rooms, shuttlebays or engineering, for example.

We will also have planetary surfaces available, so you will sometimes have missions taking place on a planets surface or even on an enemy ship.

Hope this gives you some idea about our gameplay directions.

Regards
Zach
