To back up what has already been said, we all have our own lives. It isn't our project, so to be blunt, we don't WANT anything, it just isn't our problem. Nobody here OWES you anything. You should be grateful for any help you DO get, rather than whining about people NOT helping.

Now, I've been modding since the early days of a1 and have encountered thousands of problems and crashes. When I get home tonight I will read your posts and see if I can help you, but only if you drop the attitude (and if i have time) ok?

W-w-wait... Is this the thread where ray told us that he wants to leave which he actually never did? The one with the weird post about saucer separation? And the one in which we welcomed ray back after a couple of days?

Awesome!  :woot:

Well I would like to say that even though i wasn't gone for long (like 10 days) it did serve its purpose, by making it feel as if i was severing all ties with fleetops, and leaving for a time, it made me realize why i like fleetops so much, and now that ive come back im having more fun with fleetops then i have in a long while, and it got me excited about playing fleetops again, and what will come to the game in the future, and also prompted me to work to understand the game better.

So basically Id like to thank all of you.

So thanks,

loki_999 wrote:Jet - once again you are missing the point completely.  There are many people here who would be willing to help but people don't necessarily have the answers.  The people who could perhaps help the most are the devs and they have their own project to consider first, the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, etc.

What do you want?  Lots of posts from every member who logs on saying "Sorry jet, i would love to help you but i don't know how to fix this one"  If people can help they probably will.

As nobody has been able to help you with most of your problems then it probably means that you are on your own.  This is not completely unusual.  Few few people would be willing to download someone else's mod or even a few files and go through them with a fine toothcomb looking for that missing quote mark or syntax error, or researching why X does not work with Y.  Amazingly enough, we all have our own lives outside of gaming (well, most of us do) and are not always willing or able to expend lots if time helping others.

I'm sorry to say it but I can't help but feel you have a serious attitude problem with the expectation that others only exist to serve your needs.  People here have been on the whole most welcoming and you have had quite a few responses to your problems even though they have not been so helpful in solving your issues.  If you no longer wish to be part of the community that is fine, but please don't bitch about the lack of help.

One thing I never could figure out is whether this project you are doing is for a technical course or some sort of art/literature project (I wondered this because of your book you are writing), or something completely different.

One thing I can say though is as someone who works in a software development company, have been a project manager, and has worked as a senior manager in a global IT company, with the attitude you have displayed you will never survive as a developer in the real world.

I once again suggest you reevaluate your project and what you are trying to achieve.  Flexibility is one of the key points of software development.  Sometimes you hit a brick wall and have to work around things because there is no direct solution, and sometimes there is nobody who can help you.

I've tried to be nice, and i've tried to offer friendly advice and assistance, but all i hear is whining from your side.  I said early on that you would have to work hard to build up a good reputation as you arrived under a black cloud and got off to a bad start.  Well, your reputation in my eyes has just hit rock bottom.

I wish you luck in getting your project finished.

There are no quotes missing in any of the files I checked that.
I'm mnot whining about anything, I'm having circumstances that obviously that no one is actually able to understand, I have to work in the confinds of this mod project being for a college class and I can't uninstall and start over when I got the timeline set by the class schedule to worry about.

It seems that people are just ingnoring me and  my games issues because in the end, guess what, other posts that I have don't get much replies or seem to go dead after I replied or I'm just ignored with what I wrote.

In FO threads, rails are more like "guidelines" that people tend not to follow. Some horrible crashes involving a Galaxy-class or game balancing are unavoidable.

Sorry, but to me, and probably others it indeed sounds like whining.  If it looks like a duck, and sounds like a duck, it probably is a duck.  I certainly try and understand your situation but even if I do understand it right it doesn't mean that I or anyone else can help you.

Well, we've been down this road before about reputation and long and multiple posts.  You simply turned people off from reading your threads from the beginning.  I suggested you create 2-3 small topics with your most important problems.  You created 5-6 monsters.  It just puts people off.

You have two options I see here:
1) Believe nobody wants to help you, the whole world is out to get you, nobody loves you, etc.  Leave the forums disgruntled and hating us all for not helping you.

2) Understand that firstly nobody is likely to dive in and start helping you on the scale you require.  Secondly, that you are doing things wrong with your posts and failing in your communications with others.  Get on with trying to solve your problems, if you a really stuck then post the situation (keeping it short and sweet) and hope that someone has the knowledge to help and is willing to help.  If nobody can help, and nobody replies, this is simply just because nobody can or will... get on with life.

Success or failure is your own responsibility.

All of the problems in the game are relevant and are preventing me from finding the others. Thus I did post the most important problems because these problems are preventing me from running Armada II to even test the other additions to fix any other errors that the additions might because I'm able to find ODF errors with missing quotes, and any problems that involve the weapons.

I did do exactly what you said to do, I posted my most important issues and that's what they are. Its not my fault that they are long posts because I don't have any internet connection to just post small problems until I go ot the library and use my computer outside at night (because the library is closed when I can get online) thus all the problems that are happening are written in Microsoft Word and then pasted into the forums, thus they are long for one reason, the information about the crashes is written right after it happens so they are writtne with the full information that is relevant to the problem and its description because "no one wants to even download or try the mod for tehmselves to see the problems." So I've taken the logical course of action.

2-3 not 5-6!  You just turned people off with so many threads.

Yes, you have stated your problems with internet before and i feel for you, it must be a pain.  However, it doesn't stop you from making smaller posts.  Those opening posts were just a turn off.

Vulcan ancestry?

I really am curious because of all your problems.  What is actually your university course and where are you located?  It seems you must be located in the ass-end of nowhere to actually have so many problems with getting an internet connection.

If I did 2 - 3 posts, you would still have been complaining because all the errors that I have posted are important and are making it impossible to test the rest of the mod. If I posted only 2 - 3 posts, they would be far longer than they are when seperated into 5 - 6 posts.

First of all, its not a University its a Community College in SUNY. I am located in Upstate NY, (I have the right not to give my full location of the name of my college). Since my classes are transferable to other SUNY schools you can easily find out what class/classes I'm talking about.

Because of circumstances from being a member at Armada2Files's forums and MSFC, I'm not going to risk giving out my college's name when before because of those other sites, the college's IP Address was blocked and it interferes with all of the students there, not just me.
