Well, that was ... weird! But I also have to say that I cant play very good with Klingons (or better: with cloaking races in generell)... I hate this cloak and search for harmless miners... I try to engage the enemy fleet as often as it is possible...!

Btw: Elim, are u going to upload the Mayson vs. Dominion game too???

Sure, I doo!   :thumbsup: I guess that deservs to go to the "awesome youtube replays" thread (too). (Just to let everyone to know what are we talking about Alpha(breen) defeated Mort(mayson) horribly, muhahah ) Just takes about 7-8 hours to compress (47gigs  :lol: ), and 3 more to upload, and I can't really work on my comp while doing that.

Oh my.... The phaser turret is the reason for warpins being so powerful, you can send it anywhere, because you don't need to worry about your expansion (or main) to be destroyed. You just build the platform and upgrade it instantly when you are in trouble, and boom it's like a sphere is sitting on your expansion, and your opponent simply can't do anyting about them in the early game. Don't say that: Then, ignore the turret stupid poor Elim! - yeah it's really effective to kill 2-3 miners in trasition when the mayson player will send the warpin to your expansion and destroy your proxy yard, or mining stations...

lol 50% damage reduction intreps to vorchas, and you say: not that bad.  :crybaby:

sabres would have done better lol, with good micro they could stay at long range and escape before dying.

akiras would have been a far greater choice.

It looked like the Chor at the start was chasing the Venture.

Does that computer only have 16 colors or something?

Yeah, because vorchas are so great when 10 intrepid oneshots one with tricobalt, and captures one when they are trying to cloak retreat...  You guys really need to think out of the counter table sometimes, and try to play some real games online.

My comp specs(at home): Phenom II 1090T BE, 8gigs Kingston Hyper X, and yes an IGP HD4200, because my quadro died not long ago, and didn't get the replacement yet... but I apoligised in several posts before this, thanks for pointing it again...  :thumbsup:

you didnt get 10, u had warpins there luckily. straight match intrep vs vorcha would go to the vorchas. 10 intreps becomes less than 5 (adai, torp misses) while 10 vorchas only drop to just under 7 (vorcha med range)

i would have made 1 sabre while i teched up to chassis 2. not that in this particular match that it mattered as u had already won lol.

capturing only worked cos u had 2 warpins by then i think and vorcha doesnt have huge crew.

also 10 tricobalts isnt enough to kill a vorcha. base damge of 40, vorcha has approx 600 hp (hull + shield)

on that note, the odf for the trico damage (fed_tricobalto.odf) doesnt list an entry for vorcha. the base damage is 40, but the vorcha should take only 20 from the intrep cos of armour. unless that passive damage reduction is handled in an alternate way. if the trico did less damage then the nebula trico would too as it uses the same odf.

Maybe the Tricobalt does full damage because it's an artillery weapon rather than short-range like the conventional weapons? The passive does specify short-range weapons, not short-range ships.

Vorcha got 354 hull points and 354 shield points and ablative armour should reduce damage only from short range attacks

i always thought passives were based on the ship, not the weapon.

thats not the point and you know it. the point is that vorchas do counter intreps, and that intreps arent a good idea vs vorchas in general. if he kept that yard and expansion he may have done better.

  What Elim is saying is that getting 10 Vorcha against a Mayson Player is very difficult.  You will be swamped by that point by warpins and Intrepids.

  Yes, Vorcha technically counter Intrepids, but keep in mind that the Intrepids have ADAI and are faster than the Vorcha.  With Mayson's +3 to defense, you're unlikely to kill an Intrepid before it can run off and repair.  Again ... the counter may not be as clear as you think given game circumstances.

The Tricobalt does full damage to every ship and station with Ablative Armor with the exception of officer and veteran Sovereigns. The only reason I can think for them taking reduced damage is the Polarized Hull.
