Ever wonder what it looks like when we model a new ship for Fleet Ops?  Ever wonder what it would be like to stand over our shoulder and see a ship come from nothing?  Well wonder no longer!

Looks like a Centaur I could love to Warp-In. Just out of curiosity, could the red rings on the saucer be a little deeper? They're almost impossible to see.

Wow!  Just Wow!

What a great idea to make a video of the process!  It sure satiates all of us goobers sitting around and wondering what's going on .

Also looks like an enormous amount of work!  Thanks so much for taking the time to put it together, Zeich!  :woot:

Very impressive. And Max* Maya only crashed once too, which is equally impressive!

*(They both crash as much as each other anyway!  :P)

Wow, that is detailed very nice!

All you would need to do is double the amount of segments in the saucer and smooth boths ends of the nacelles and this could easily be the best Centaur model for BC and Legacy ever!

Tell me if I'm wrong but that looks like Maya 2011 ... We shall battle that out with purple flowers of doom later  :shifty:

If this is Maya does this mean you guys have a Mel script that exports models as SOD's?

Where do you get those background images?  And how do you get them to be the exact size you want them to be?  Very impressive!  Although, I think the number of polygons is a bit high.  How many polygons are on that ship?

Can you equip it with a 5x redundant shielding system when it gets in the game?

One more thing, is Maya one of those 30-day trial things with a multi-thousand dollar unlock fee?

I've have once again realized how paltry my limited skills with Milkshape are...that was awesome. Looking forward to using it in-game, the Centaur is one of my favorite ships.

Sweet. I wouldn't mind if this vessel wasn't a "rare" warp-in

You missed the Optec thread a while back about the new Romulan ship? It's in the thread Behind the Scenes.

Max/Maya are soooooo much easier to work in.

I would search the net but it could have been from a actual physical model as well. And if you watch the video near the end when hes modeling the nacelles you will see that the top view and the side view are different. So reference images are not perfect.

Yes it is unless you are a student and in that case its free.

One final question is how long did it take you to make that whenever im modeling it takes me forever just to do anything. I think im too much of a perfectionist to really be a good modeler maybe i should take a class in it.

Well, based upon what i've found in the "FO3" avatar set for your profile options it actually is the standard Generix and not a brand new ship.
