Ah, so it is a Zip... when the computer shows them both the same, you don't check that.

The 'screw up' is the image here that pops up when I try to extract. This is it about 4 seconds into the extract, and getting longer constantly.

Actually, ignore that. I tried another way of downloading and it worked this time.

Guess that way of downloading doesn't always work... Anyway, pretty good considering it's an Alpha-level.

Since this uses FO, would I be correct in assuming FO-things (like shipcaps, level-ups, ect) would still work?

Very interesting.  I'm surprised no one has thought of this before, as it will make many people happy over at File Front.

I believe that those indeed will work: that was Blade's entire reason for this project--bringing A2 the stuff that FO has :D

not actually tried but it shud and i hope it does altho its not gone fully to plan (eg two resource costs have been renamed so slight modification will be needed their and more work will need to be dne wen adding new races (and ships due to the use of fo sprites aswell as a2 sprites)

one question tho would ppl like the project upgrade to be included in this mod as if i'm not mistaken that is one of the most popular mods for stock a2 as it dsnt really change the game play or specs needed.

what abput all the wreapon names?  do they still work?

Also, I would assume that the trading, and all those things stillwork in FO, they may have just been renamed, but do they still work?


This could have some real potential.  You could keep the good weapon textures, while adding the stock type of ships, just with texture upgrades.  It would be like armada 2.5  Haveing all the same ships, but all new textures, without changeing gmeplay at all.

Trading works... kinda. You will have to change the button entries in the sprite file. It's a little perculiar now that the resources have been changed.

fixed all those (replaced the fo gui to the stock gui and renabled the tooltip features from a2

Is it possible that the Federation ships could be given registries in this? The link I've put here includes 3,500 name/registry combos for just under 110 Classes, including every Starship inclkuded in stock A2 (some of them, such as the Akira, Defiant, ect have about 50-100 names alone...). The Non combat ships don't have a set Class, so any of the countless non-canon background Classes could be used.

yh technically but it wud involve a lot of odfs, textures and sods so wud b inpratical

How would it? Just copy the names from the downloaded file into the ship odf... hardly a complex procedure.

I think tyler just means to have a different set of registries for each ship odf, not a odf for each name.
