I dont think thats true at all. The Defiant is not a fast ship, remember the Valiant and the endless problems the defiant had at first? It was never designed to penetrate deep into enemy space like the Achilles is and never would have if not for the romulan cloak. The Defiant is an escort ship, its not meant for speed, its meant to escort slower more vulnerable targets or to defend a sector from a dangerous enemy (borg). The Achilles is the next step in the process its a ship designed to go on missions that require either a battleship or a task force, but requires speed as well. Missions without a guarantee of return but enough urgency that that doesn't matter. Hmm good point on cost not mattering...
Hey Tok'ra the problem with all the kitbash or Wolf 359 fleet ships is that they're largely boring. They're a lot like the Ambassador class as far as the game is concerned. The Nebula is a cool ship and i disagree with them being labeled as rare or not in production anymore, but they're not the sort of ships that are front line defense/combat ships. They have civilians on board etc. That to me is what the first Warp in does. It calls in ALL ships, not just the ones meant for combat. The Variants would be rather boring gameplay wise.

Most kitbash's are canon ships that have a similar design lineage to another. Maybe a better way to put it would be Canon > non-canon (1 n, 2 is the weapon).

you Want cannon? How about the Yeager class.
Maybe some nebula "bashes"/ refits in the future, but for now, I will stick with non cannon future ships.
The Achilles will not be warp in, cus it was made at the height of the dominion wars, so it wouldn't still be experimental.
I'm not set about the weapons. It will be around the speed of the akira, and it will be expensive. I think I will stick with phasers, cus its already will have a pulse, type special weapon. However, the the century will have weapons similer to the Sovereigns, but more powerful. So Again I am conflicted. It seems that they may end up with very similer weapons.
So, help me out guys, What do you wan't?

I want it with Pulse Phasers, since the special weapon isnt something that going to be in constant use. But since its meant to work alone, i'd say give it an aft only firing beam phasers and at veterancy grant it a q single q-torp. It's still a ship in very limited deployment maybe making it a warp it would make sense.

When I saw the Achillies in the only game I am aware of it appearing, it had several foward Pulse Phasers, a brutal upward array of micro-Quantum launchers and no beam Phasers fired.

It aft only firing possible with FO? I haven't experimetned with FO Weapon linse, so I don't know.
Ok, so what if I have it twin pulse cannons, and a Q torp. Then my micro torp barrage that doesn't make the shop face its enemy.

6 Pulse Phasers (3 on each side of the Saucer), so 2 ingame with the dual-shot sprite would work.
6 Torp launchers (2 rows of 3 going along the hull in the centre section), with the burst fire used in game 1 or 2 could get the right effect.
I don't think aft-only arcs work, only foward and 360 degree's.

My god I thought no one knew of the yeager class except me....Its in ds9 but only from afar....
Adm Zaxxon....I also have open office suite by sun...Actually I did a lil exploring of gimp last night just check out a dif tool and I think ill stick with pdn.....I think pdn has easier to use interface and features....and is more stable...but we each have their own....thanks for clarifying ur modding ability as well....My capabilities are basiclt the same...odfs creation and editing I can also do tooltips if I really want to, Also I can make weapon sprites and other targa based imagery as well as bitmaps. I also can do some modeling though not much...actually I find 3dmax easier to use than MS3D but unfortunately the max version I have access to is 2008 so as far as I know there are no sod export/import plugins or scripts available yet though I belive one is in the process of being made. I just havent got the hang of texturing models yet...Just been distracted too much to learn grouping and lightmaps and such.
Leet Gamer...Increasing poly count and texture size/quality produces a lot of drag on gpu's. Ive found that a good texture can allmost always make a "so-so" model look great....however if the sod sucks to begin with well textures will only do so much. Also higher poly does not mean better quality....neither does having an 30mb worth of textures(just a random number) make a model better quality. Its all a matter of balance. and the eye of the beholder....
In regards to the century I did the same thing with mine....I actually scalled it up a lil and gave it the defensive stats of the descent but gave it a better ofensive.....Long range phasers and quantum torpedos....I also gave it the sheild reset ability...so basicly I just made a beefed up version of the sovy.I havent done rank up versions yet as Im still trying to decide if I like the role for it....which is a "heavy battleship"
Also I belive fire arcs are dependent on which way hardpoints are facing....so an aft facing hardpoint with a restricted fire arc will only fire aft I think same thing for other hardpoints

While i dont remember the coding for it, i know for sure you can make a weapon with a 180deg firing area. They were coded that was for a bunch of ships in the MP. Its the same as a forward fire only, you just place it on an aft location on the SOD map.

Only works if the hardpoint is included in the same HP group as a foward firing weapon. Put it as a stand alone HP and it will fire out the back and quickly turn to the front. Phasers and Pulses fire the same regardless of the way the HP is facing.

180 degree's is still pretty much foward firing; 90 to the left of dead centre and 90 to the right.

That is what I ment. Photoshop, and Max are better, but more expencive.
To all, I am not looking to make a dreadnought (not until the soulwolf anyway) so I think 6 pulse cannons is a little much. maybe 4. And about 4, to 6 micro torps as well.
As to the century, I believe it will be a smaller more advanced version of the soverign, being Faster, and cheaper, but less defence. It will fit the roll of battle cruiser.
The Achilles will be more of a destroyer, Verry expencive like a defiant, fast, but not too fast, Have lots of weapons, but not to be overpowered. It is still a slass ship, and it is made to be a borg killer. Won't last long in a battle with lots of ships, but should take out a cube,and larger ships verry soon. Its torps, should shoot about 24 shots in all, a 80% chance of hitting, and the barrage will last about only 3 seconds. Not sure about hitpoints yet.
Note: I have no HP map, so it may take some time to find where everything goes.

Adm Zaxxon..might I sugest u try assimview? Its a good lil utility that can show you the layout of hardpoints on sods....though it takes some getting used to....Its a lil quicker than mapping them out with dif colored phasers or one at a time....just one issue with assimview..it dont work on most the sods for FO for some reason but so far every sod ive gotten off of A2 it works on.
