rifraf wrote:Hey there. I wouldn't say it works any better. The Import mod was designed to bring stock A2 into the FO engine with just enough changes to get it to work. My mod is essentially the same idea except all the graphics/models/textures are updated to look better using mods from everyone around the community.
I would like to download it and see for myself, this might be really cool!
rifraf wrote:What about stock A2 keeps your friends going back to that if I may ask? The import mod should be basically identical in game play to stock. I made slight changes to a couple of the game play mechanics in my mod, but they are easily changed back to stock levels as well.
Certain things like wanting infinite moons I guess (seem only unlimited resources can be done in fleet ops),
There is a color bug (in the map, all buildings and ships appear red), and other things too.
For the record, I don't have a problem with it, I recommend it over stock game. I like how every ship you make you see it's name in the group. But when we set up events now in UFPlanets, they just want to use the stock game for the original feel. I am trying to get more and more fleet ops events going since I was JUST promoted as Operations officer (event host)

Hi kongming. Which version did you download one of the full versions or the two-part one? You have a folder inside your Fleet Ops/data folder named "mods" and you just downloaded my mod into the "mods" folder?
Does it load at all or crash at the start?

finally downloaded it yesterday! I am unzipping it and installing this morning to test.
Edit: It installed just fine. I like the way the UI looks. I started one instant action game and wanted to test the federation so I set it to inf resources and started up. the game models look great. my enemy was supposed to be klingon but I didnt like the normal speed so i aborted the game and restarted the same thing but on speed 6. It froze once while building some ships from Normal shipyard and then once I got into adv shipyard building and making the final stations (like vulcan facility) somewhere it completely froze and crashed. I saved the crash report, and I think the exception message was not enough memory.
I wanted to say I do have a VERY OLD computer so I imagine that has something to do with it, but I am not sure. I want to try this again but perhaps we should look into this error before I move forward.
I want to say if this can work just fine I would like to use your mod as a weekly hosting mod event for Armada II. I recently became the Operations officer for Starfleet Tactical at UFPlanets, and that basically means I am the event host for all classic trek games, and armada II is the event I love to host.

When you say it froze did it freeze then go back to normal each time or freeze and you had to force shut down the game or crash totally?

No one has reported any crashes like you have so I'd tend to lean towards something else however, can you reproduce the crash in the exact same spot, with the exact same race building the exact same thing? If it's just random crashes then that's one thing, but if you have the exact same crash each and every time then I'll be able to narrow it down.

I appreciate it however, I'm not really able to help with the crash report. I looked through, but didn't really see much that stood out. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I just installed the Mod as requested. When I start it, everything appears as the Original A2...
I can not find the mistake I do. it is unzipped correctly and the STA2 Classic folder is placed in the mods folder as I did with other mods before... But when I launch it, everything is ooks like Original from 2001....
Anyone can help, please?
EDIT: i managed to make it run, nothing to solve anymore...
too bad, it is not a conversion basing on 3.2.7 FO... anyway nice work!!

So I've tried running this a few times, and I always get a crash after about 15 minutes of play. My rig is quite good, so I don't think it's a problem of my machine being unable to handle the game. Honestly, the way it's behaving reminds me somewhat of original Skyrim's issue where the game engine can't use more than 4GB of ram even though the machine has more than that.
Is anyone else having this problem? I really love the aesthetic of this mod, so would love to use it when I want to play classic STA2.

Thank you for the feedback. Each time it crashed were you just playing a random game or were you doing the exact same thing? Can you repeat the crash at around the same time playing the same race, doing the same thing each time?
I built my rig in 2009 with a Core 2 Duo E8400 and a gtx460 and windows 7 so nothing special on my end and it runs perfectly. Is this just the stock mod you are playing or have you done any edits?

Hi everyone!
It's been a week or so since I installed this mod, and I must say I find it very good aside for a several (minor) problems I encountered which I will try to explain here as much as possible.
1. Borg and Species 8472 AI's are messed up in skirmish, or to be more precise they don't build much (even at higher diff setings). Similar problems is with Klingons and Federation, but instead of almost not bulding any ships/station they do it, but at extremely slow pace (even at higher difficulties).
2. Species 8472 Mother's gui for construction of active and passive embryos is mixed up in a way that image of passive embryo represents active embryo build button, and the one of active embryo represents passive embryo build button.
3. Single player (campaing) AI is ridiculously overpowered. During first Federation mission in about a minute or so after I have built orbital processing facility Borg has swarmed me by fleet of at least two dozen assimilators/spheres/interceptors. And like that wasn't enough they continued to do it in waves every 30 seconds or so. Yes, I want a challenge and I knew it would be harder if I set game to hard difficulty, but this seems more like a brutal difficulty to me (something that can be seen in C&C 3 Tiberium wars for example). Even the Outpost didn't helped much and it is really difficult to keep the Enterprise out of the way from so many Borg ships.
4. Outposts seem slightly overpowered and are now able to one hit-one kill ships that could previously take more beating. For example, in original Armada 2, Akira class would take at least 3 or 4 hits from starbase before going down, and now it goes down after single hit. While it is alright for stations to be more powerful from ships it is still very unrealistic seeing bigger ships like Akira and such go down after only 1 hit. It's like they are made of paper thus completely useless to build once you get to Galaxies and Sovereigns which also can't hold up more than 3 or eventually 4 hits. Klingons are especially troublesome when it comes to ships made of paper as they really do seem extremely fragile. Even their bigger ships like Fek'Lhr and Qeh'Rals. On the other hand, Cardassian and Romulan ships seems more durable.
5. Some research pods are not visible. That's the problem with most of the races and makes it very difficult to identify which researches have been already done, which got destroyed and so on.
6. Colors of races are messed up. In the single players colors of races are not what they are supposed to be. For example, Romulans are purple instead of green, Klingons and Species 8472 are black, Cardassians are green, Federation is red and so on. That is very confusing and not good for a gameplay at all. Klingons and 8472 are especially problematic as they are almost impossible to notice on minimap due to the black color.
7. Some ships are missing. I mean, not any of the ones included in game, but those that should have been in, but aren't. That would be Hutet class for Cardassians which would be obviously a good match for Romulan Scimitar (which is in game). Also, if you added dominion attack ship and battlecruiser, I see no reason why battleship was left out which would be another good opponent for Scimitar or fusions cubes.
8. New ships are not buildable during campaign. This is not that much of a problem, but it would be nice if I could build those added ships in campaign and thus make it more interesting. It would certainly add up to already greatly improved experience.
9. Superstations. Another cool idea that could improve game is to add some kind of ultimate headquarters that could be built only once at a time, but would be therefore extremely powerful and resilient. For example, that could be Spacedock type station for Federation, Ty'Gokor for Klingons, Terok Nor (DS9) for Cardassians, Unimatrix for Borg and so on. Make it double or even triple the cost of standard Outpost and ability to build them only after every other station is constructed and you have a perfect setup for a superbase.
10. Dominion/Breen as a race. I would rather see them as separate race than mixed with Cardassians. That way you would also have an even number of races which is perfect for skirmish or multiplayer as well (8 races for 8 slots). And lets face it, adding them as a race would make game more interesting too.
That's all of the problems I have encountered thus far, and hopefully I'll get some instructions on how to fix them and maybe implement some of ideas I mentioned above like superstations, new ships and such.

I to have this problem unfortunately.
It seems to happen a few minutes into the game no matter what I do.
It just freezes for a moment, then the game crashes, with a crash report window popping up after.
Shame, cuz this FO program and this mod is an amazing thing, seeing as how the original install from the disc will not function with Windows 10.
Amazing mod non the less. Hope this minor issue gets fixed!
