The point with star was that his mining was save all the time. He could happily produce and even had res for singularity transmitter and turrets. Boggz mentioned in the game that he would go for Bugs which is correct if you face the warbirds...on the other hand Star could have easily moved on to DRhienns which kill bugs really fast...Dom vs Rom is really hard...

s-2 counter both rhienns and cehlaers. they would have been good. he already had the tech lab for the white.

s-2 counter both rhienns and cehlaers. they would have been good. he already had the tech lab for the white.

  S-2's only sort of counter Rhienns.  S-2 are easily half torpedo based and Rhienns have phase plates.


  This means that:

Rhienn with phase plates does 100% damage to the small S-2.

S-2 does 100% - 80% = 20% damage with half of THAT damage missing 40% of the time.  That means that, against a Rhienn with Phase plates, an S-2 will do 16% damage.

Thirty seconds of countering, and you can always come back and finish those Rhienns off if you're scared . I think his point is that S2 are a pinch hitter - they can fulfill both tasks given the situation.

That being said, S-2 still do more base damage than other Dominion mediums (like Bugs) to Phase Plated Rhienns.

Yep.  Ignore the phase plated rhienns and om nom on those yummy, long ranged cehalears.   Then you can take on the rhienns when they're spent.

I like how we're over 2 pages away from the last replay.

No, its not.  

Well,  in team games it's not so easy, you need to be very agressive at start, make sure you(and your ally) strike first and you will be fine. (you can always force them to play defensive, as you have significant production advantage in the early game)

In 1v1... lol roms can really suffer from proxy yard build ups, especially from b-8's.

Yeah Dominion being very aggressive against Romulans works very well in 2 v 2, as Elim and I have tried out in a 2 v 2 recently

I would have to say that dominion vs. Rom is still one of the more challenging match-ups against experienced players.

haha, yeah tun, that cloak detect in that one match proved to be very very useful for you,

big dominon fleet+ ((no sheilds+no weapons) kvorts+kbqs)= dead kvorts/kbqs

i was gonna reply to this post but dom and mal beat me to it and pointed out everything i was gonna say.

targetting the cehlaers first is good as they cant use phase plates and they wont dodge any torps. and their special is better against fewer more powerful ships, rather than lots of s2s buzzing around.

oh and s-2 super white ftw! i nearly always make s2 in limited numbers just for +30% dmg.

if he had moved to s2 he would have had both s2 and b8, which is awesome too. as the +30% damage to the already nice dps of the b8 is not to be underestimated.

plus the b8 makes it easier to board cloaking rhienns as they run

TUN didn't know that Cehlaers were on the board.  Not until kinda too late at least.  His choice of B-8's were a GREAT counter to Shrikes and Rhienns.

  Once the Birds were on the map I really wasn't sure how to tell him to make S-2 and something else and ONLY target the birds with the S-2.  I had my hands full with Clint .  The B-8's were an excellent counter to the Rhienns/Shrikes, he just never really got anything available to counter the birds.

It is...you can only count for the B8s...which are slightly OP if massed correct against 1 tier cloakers due to transporting (so I dont count them atm). All other ships will be countered easily by common Rom ships.

I agree that S2 would be the right choice vs the Cehlaer...but on the other hand...changeing to disruptor rhienns is would be easy for Rom. And S2 are clearly no real counter for the DRhienn...even with its passive.

I don't really want to be offtopic, but...

Well, you are right about b-8s being a bit op agnist cloakers, but trust me thats not the olny way to screw roms. All dominion proxy yard build ups can work, for example, you can have a middle large yard with mining and 2 bugs with a b-5, when to roms have about 2 rhienns and a lehval, or 4 rhienns, and that means you can countinously press them  on the main and don't let them expand. It also means that they can't raid you because you can just send your über-sturdy miners repair. So the chances are pretty even...  Not mentioning the proxy yard breen S-2 spam, if you do that, and don't make big mistakes roms will die before they can get dist rhienns out.   If you just sit on your butt and spam bugs sure you will die, you need to be agressive from the start.

I love when ppl complain about dominion being underpowered aginst romulans, don't take it offensive, but you just simply don't know how to play them.

PS: Also, I know  me too complained a lot about dist rhienns, but every other races suffer from them now even feds (borg probably not), so it's not a dominion-specific thing.

I really need to work on that B5 rush tactic of yours Elim. That definitely is a good anti Romulan trick and even better for dominion vs dominion matches.
