Ray, the sensor station is buildable from the Dominion constructor, the button is next to the turret I think.

And the cloak detect is ANY ship you have sending out a medium normal ping (using a special weapon on the sensor station, researched at the tech lab.) The sensor stations have enuff energy for three pings IIRC.
Advanced (for those pesky Romulan scouts) long range pings are automatic from sensor stations.
I would recommend reading the research descriptions, as I'm pretty sure that the cloak detect research description says basically this.

As for supply: Supply mining is more cost effective than buying from the starbase after the first purchase (so buy supply from sb once, then build the mining for it.)

As for counters: the T15s were indeed a Leahval counter, and the B5s were a Frigate counter, but the Bombers were a bad idea.
The reason for Bombers not being the counter is that Leahvals do heavy damage to smalls (or maybe it was destroyers, I'm not sure) like Bombers with metaphasic, the limited firing arc sucks, and the bombers' additional damage to short range is partially negated by Leahvals being medium-sized. T15 is really the only good Leahval counter for the Dominion (or maybe the only, I can't think of another but I haven't played in a while.)

Bombers are a GREAT counter to Leahvals ^-^.
Metaphasic only does extra damage when Energy Reeling is on (and to short range, not smalls) ^-^.
T-15 takes 50% less damage, but also has 20% reduced damage output because the Leavhal is medium.  ^-^
Bombers will miss 20% of the time, but will do 50% more damage when they do hit ^-^.
Also, Bombers can be made out of the small yard while T-15's from the big one ^-^.

But I'm sure you knew these things already and were just testing us :woot:.

Keep up the good work, Nebbie!  Can't wait till the next time YOU'RE recorded

Mods: Apologies if this post goes beyond what is allowed by the rules of this forum. I offer justification in that, despite repeated rebukes of a softer nature by many other players, certain individuals  addressed below continue to habitually malign and criticize any error on the part of a recorded player. This is detrimental to the fun atmosphere of FleetOps and needs to be corralled.

Ok, I have had enough of this. Certain players need to stop posting in this topic until you can do so without being condescending and rude. Nearly every time a replay goes up, at least one of you is there to review it right away. Without fail, what follows it nothing less than a pretentious lecture on what errors the losing player made, what both players could have done better, and quite often a rehash of the most basic mechanics of the game.

The first thing you need to keep in mind is that you can see everything that is happening. The players in the game can't. Read those last two sentences again until they penetrate the fog of smugness and self-superiority that taints every post you two make in this topic. The replays themselves serve to teach the same lessons you two pontificate about on end, but the replays are a constructive learning tool, which means that unlike your posts, their existence serves a valid function.

If you two really cared about helping others learn, you could post more constructively, or simply take your thoughts to PM, rather than dressing down every player for the whole forum to see. Really, it's a shame to see eager players harassed and brought down because the two of you can't be bothered to bring some sense of decency into what you write. Any embarrassment as a result of your posts is really a blight against the entire FO community, especially when the embarrassment should be yours for the attitudes you take against your fellow players. These are people who want to have fun, and quite frankly for some people it's difficult to be featured in a replay because no one wants their mistakes to be seen be everyone else, much less criticized for them as if they've committed some cardinal sin.

It shows a measure of courage and caring to be willing to let your mistakes and successes alike be recorded for other players to learn from, and admittedly get some measure of entertainment from watching the combat play out. The entertainment value is not meant to be extended to you ripping others apart though. If you want to add anything constructive to replays, perhaps you should play once in a while, and maybe even, and forgive me because this is a long stretch here, be featured in some replays yourselves.

Good luck with that though. I'm not sure you'll find anyone left who will be willing to play with you at this point. I know I won't.

Edit: Primi doesn't know his sins.

Hmm, it seems I need to reread the guide concerning special weapons.
I still disagree about Bombers being a good counter, mainly because they are so fragile that they won't be able to escape from three Leahvals (with careful metaphasic use, and assuming there isn't a critical mass of Bombers.)

i agree with the boggz, bombers munch leahvals, as dominion you cant expect to keep these smaller ships alive unless you are stardust. bombers dying is to be expected, leahvals make it hard to retreat for any race/ship. especially more for bombers. but the bombers do so much extra damage that they will kill leahvals in return. and romulans cant afford to lose leahvals, while dominion can afford a couple bombers and still get critical mass of them.

plus as ray already had the tech lab he could do the bomber special, which is kinda like a less effective meta D cos it can put the finishing blow.

lol primigenia, you hit it straight out the ground into the car park. i agree with your sentiment (if not your delivery) that continuous elitist dressing downs will make players stop wanting to be recorded. i just recorded 2 new players in a 1v1, as expected there were a few slip ups, but it took courage to let yourself be recorded. there better not be any attacks on them when i post the replay.

Part way in to the replay. lol, that turret was supposed to be a sensor plat, but I didn't have the  req for it.

Edit:
Just saw the rest of it. In looking at this I can see loads of mistakes and face palm moments, but this just means I'll get even better.

so you made a phaser instead?  :woot:

you are talking about the phaser that was just south of your main base starbase right?

even as a sensor i would recommend putting it at your exp, since cloaking enemies will go for your mining. i personally wouldnt build many fed sensor turrets since the venture is mobile and on such a small map the venture can get around and do well. thats just me personally, they can scare off some cloak raiding and they do make cloak retreats in the immediate area impossible.
