Ag and Fish? Dirty ass politicians. Line their wallets and ignore us.

I contacted my senator, and he sent a letter back that basically said (nicely) F*** off, this is good for you. I'm not going to lay back and be spoon fed. America was born by bloodshed, and by God (pick one) if it takes revolution, I will help fix this government. Our rights as laid forth by our constitution cannot be taken from us, even by passing law.

most western states have bloodshed in their past, whether it was civil wars or a revolution that got rid of undemocratic systems. what we have now is almost worse, we still have no say, but we don't even realise we are not in control.

voter apathy is completely understandable when we give away the power we won to politicians, the word politician now has a negative connotation. it's a shame really.

i almost envy the arab world and their arab spring, their uprisings may buy them a few decades of real democracy, but then they'll end up with their own politicians and expenses scandals.

So long internet. :crybaby:
Now, who do we go to war with first  :guns:

Actually, this sounds like it's bad for more than just the internet, stopping the sale of generic drugs, iTunes can't rip to MP3. WTF.

Our rights have been gone for a long time. Ever hear of the PATRIOT Act? Plus, theres now another law they passed here in the U.S. recently, using SOPA as cover (and even that only extremely-well informed Americans found out about and spread the word, it wasnt mentioned on any government or news programs) which permanently dissolves habeus corpus (right to a trial). So now they control all news media, with APTA they now control the Internet, and any and all dissenters here will just quietly disappear. Good ol "civilized" world.

habeus corpus isn't the right to a trial, habeus corpus is a procedural device for examining the lawfulness of a prisoner's detention.

Many new laws have been made in western countries that permit detention without trial, habeus corpus hasn't been destroyed. if a person was being detained without trial before these laws that permit detention without trial, then habeus corpus could be used to free the person.

habeus corpus isn't used much now since the only people detaining people have the right to do so. (police/prison services/etc) and habeus corpus wouldn't work since they have the authority to detain in nearly every case.

the debate over when the state should be authorised to detain people is certainly one that is worth having.

Thats what I meant, its the same general effect though. People detained unlawfully have no way to get free. Not saying this WILL happen, its just been historically proven as one of the first steps to a totalitarian state

if the government passes a law that allows them to be detained, then they're not being detained unlawfully, just the laws that detain them are questionable. but this is a completely separate topic about many different laws that permit detention under many circumstances.

Some of the members of Poland's parliament wore Guy Fawkes masks earlier during a no confidence vote.

You know it's bad when politicians hav to wear a symbol of a hakktivist organization (especially one whose symbol basically means anarchy) just to show they actually care.

ACTA protests erupt in Poland - BlogPost - The Washington Post

Additionally, twitter has decided that, at this of all times, they are going to start complying with governments asking them to take down tweets that violate laws in those countries (since tweets are just text, and therefore just speech, that ends up meaning that twitter will be complying with censorship.)

fleetops has had star trek content for years, it's nice of them to ok it now. but fleetops should always have been on the good side of the law as it's a not for sale fan work, kinda like a fanfic. as long as fleetops isn't offering the actual a2 game, and only a mod, it should be fine.
