This is a sad and sick joke. Just shows how bad our society has gotten. Our leaders have failed us, time to remove them and put new ones in their place. They have lost sight of why they are there, not to serve the big greedy companies but to serve the people.

Myles wrote:fleetops has had star trek content for years, it's nice of them to ok it now. but fleetops should always have been on the good side of the law as it's a not for sale fan work, kinda like a fanfic. as long as fleetops isn't offering the actual a2 game, and only a mod, it should be fine.

The problem is these laws also will make it illegal to do fan made things that are free and no money made off them whatsoever. Even images posted on a social media site that has a logo of a company could be taken down. This is how bad it will get, it's all about control, the piracy smoke screen is just that, once they get the power there will be no stopping them, no limits. This is what the people of the world are fighting.

NBC Universal already took down nearly ever BSG mod (which were all free) claiming that they were breaching copyright laws. They legally could do it too and what is to stop the other companies/governments to not to do the same with Trek mods if this law is passed?

the daily show points to. in the US SOPA bill the people how ask for the bill are not tech savvy witch is scary seeing they are the ones supporting a law they know nothing about.

I assome is the same els where laws simpler to sopa are put up for a vote.

There is no you tube clip for it.

indeed, current laws should be on fleetops side, but sopa/acta could easily destroy such innovation. fleetops is wholly positive for cbs/activision-blizzard, as people actually buy copies of a2 to play it.

And like the previous videos have been taken down, they have already started to take control, free speech is becoming a think of the past. It's really a sad case of affairs and if/when this fully happens the people who support it now, will be the first to complain. I really wish people would think about what they do, vote for before they do.

I am in total agreement, mods give free advertising for games and for the shows they are based on. So many people had a game found a BSG mod for it, played it and liked it so they went out and watched/bought the DVD of BSG and yet NBC still decided to take it down. Obviously they don't want additional business money coming in. They probably did it because of Battlestar Galactica Online, one of the worse games ever. I'd rather play space invaders from the 1970's over BSGO.

I'd hate to see mods of other genres and shows taken down due to these stupid laws.

It seems that it's about time to go exhume George Orwell, and a host of others. In case you hadn't noticed though, "free speech" seems to have disappeared in America, oh, round about 1950. You can't seem to say a damned thing anymore, and when you do, you're either silenced or ignored.

This has passed beyond "out of hand" and entered into "absurd circus". And the worst part is, we can't seem to get rid of the bad politicians, why, because the only people who get to elections are the "party approved" who are basically the same as what we have now. I'm really starting to think my government is as corrupt as the ones we try to take down.

If NBC can't see that they're throwing away money, then they must be the biggest collection of fools around.

HEEEY ITS CAPITALISM, ITS WHAT YOU WANTED! GOD BLESS THE FREE MARKET SYSTEM AND THE PEOPLE WHO SUPPORTED IT, ALLOWING CORPORATIONS TO CASH THEIR WAY INTO POWER!

Not just the US, here in AUS as well. You are even called insulting or politically incorrect. Did you know they are trying to make the Southern Cross illegal in AUS? It's on our flag for gods sake yet it's overly offensive and people are trying to band it. Hell look up in the sky, it's in the night sky.

This world is just getting way out of hand. We need to really revise our entire way of life, starting with giving our leaders the boot and getting someone in there that will serve us, like our AU former PM Kevin Rudd, who got the boot, yes you guessed it because he was serving the people.

Well, this is just my humble opinion, but one of the biggest contributers to corrupt leaders is that they can make a career out of being elected. It should be a privilege not a job.

Step 1: make a bunch of outlandish promises during election time that you can not actualy keep.
Step 2: once elected sit back, enjoy the pay check(from tax payers) and look good in front of camera.
Step 3: for relection say the reson you could not keep all your promises was because of the other political party. and say that you will fight harder next time.
Step 4: repeat.

That's just it, this isn't capitialism or. In fact the provisions ACTA would provide boarder on scantioning monopoly. This is just a way for the corporate giants to not innovate, by which they mean spend money. They're getting the government to do the work of killing their competition. This is most definitely NOT free market.

Hence why we can't get rid of them.

Causality: Cause and effect! :shifty:

CAUSE: Capitalism gives way to free market enterprise, usually portrayed as the pinacle of freedom and democracy gives essentially power to the small companies to grow out of ontrol into corporations who invest their vast wealth in order to gain political influence and literally shape entire goverments like they did in america.

EFFECT: Stardate: today! SOPA/PIPA/ACTA, Corporate de-regulations, rising powerty and umeployment, national debt growing out of control and it just goes on and on!
