why would you need tri-colbolt torpedoes in the badlands? that was where voyager was supposed to be going right? were they suppose to light-up an enemy base or something overthere?

Why is it in the Armada games the akira class never has torpedos when it was the first federation ship to use torpedos as a primary weapon instead of phasers?

In the original Armada I it's because they got the Akira and Steamrunner the wrong way round. In FC the Steamrunner is a phaser cruiser, and Akira was a torpedo ship. For some reason Activision switched them though....

I was kinda ticked about that, too. Still, I wouldn't want to see the Akira as an artillary cruiser...

The Akira class heavy cruiser has:
3 type X phaser arrays
15 pulse fire torp tubes

Steamrunner class light cruiser:
6 type VIII phaser arrays (even together are still short of 3 type Xs)
4 torp tubes (2 pulse fire & 2 standard)

the akira has the steamrunner beat anyway you look at it, so no they didn't get the akira & steamrunner mixed up. in FC the two classes were firing both phasers & torps, not to mention "message in a bottle", how many torpedoes did you see it fire, 0 only phasers were fired. the terms "phaser cruiser" & "artillary cruiser" are used for game purposes, not in the films/episodes.

even with all this said i still support the idea of puttin torps on the akira as standard. i still think the best way to do this while keeping balance is to switch the standard weaponry of the intrepid, and change admirals risner's avatar to support those changes :) .

two things about the borg battle in FC. the akira class ships did fire torps (don't know why you didn't see em, but they are in there); and two, everyone knows that torpedoes are less effective against the borg than phasers are, so in my opinion they shouldn't have used em at all, cept for the quantum ones, maybe. :omg:

Oh my goodness...You do realize these trek sites have no direct source of information? that they make half this crap up? just like their sources do? Who cares if it's a light cruiser or a tube of tooth paste, it needs torpedos!
