OK here we go, this post concerns the federation, paticularly there late game stregth. I know some of you say the feds build fast, okay you can get them up quick, but there not that fast, and in my opinion(no offense fleet ops) they suck in the late game so let me share my reasons for why they are not good
1. Let us start with the soverign. So here goes. The soverign is simply not that weak. 38 attack? come on, it is not supposed to be as strong in weapons as a defiant, it should be stronger. So lets try 47(or higher) tack on 3 more seconds build time or so and 75 di, 85 tri, some supply and presto, looks a bit better, oh and defense, i would agree with but i think i should be 3 higher. The sovy is a very powerful ship i think it would have good defenses.
2.Defiant, looks okay, but attack should be raised to 42 in my opinion, and defense to 38. Again tack on 75 di and 85 tri and some supply.
3. Phalanx, come on, now its got to be better, so tack on some more resources, star is fine, but make its atack 53 and defense 49, and its good,
with those 3 changes i belive it would be much better, of course with a few time adjustment and resources, and phalanx buildable for mayson to?
Now maybye some of you have spotted this there is a gap, between the defiant and excelsior, now some of you probaably think im dieing to put the galaxy in there, well let me tell you, yeah itd be k, but i am content with fleet ops having it warp in, the galaxy is another battle, that will come up another day.
so here is proposal #1 for that gap
#1 move the excelsior up offenseivly and defensely resources, and all that, and put in the miranda
for no stars, tack on some resources, but put the miranda in and raise its stats a little, but not much, this is simply because fleet ops has outdone themselves with the miranda 2, its awsome, my favorite ship, and i love it. okay so there is proposal one, but there is a hole or mixed tech, im noit sure what would be put there, (a galaxy maybye? lol) you could put a better miranda 2 therefor the cost of a star
Proposal #2 there has been some talk about the akira needing to be stronger, well here is its chance to shine, the excelsior is moved up as before to fill in the gap, but for the gap that the excelsior left, goes to the akira, make the akira stronger and put it in that spot. Now for the other yard, put in the miranda, leave it as it is, minus the credit cost, make it a bit more expensive, and there you go,
for all of this, instead of 3 chassises make it 4 or 5, with the miranda being reached on the 3rd on possibly, and only after both of the sciences have been built, because it is stronger then what the akira is now
of course build time would have to be adjusted a bit, but i really think that this could work
as a end note. fleet ops team i respect you. And everyoen i know this is the fleet ops team mod, there decisions is what makes the mod. I am not telling anyone what to do. i am making a suggestion to fix a problem i see, and put in my favorite ship(the miranda 2) to help fix the problem i see. I dont want any he said she said, hes telling them what to do, there spouting off nothing, i want this to be a discussion for everyones input and most of all i would like to here the fleet ops teams opinion. So lets not make this like the galaxy thread. Thanks for listening to my ideas.

i just checked the database again, the current values do at least match the balancing formulas, but i will take a second look if a ship could get more powerful or any other changes are possible. we will make some tests tomorrow

IMO the feds are good the way they are... they seem strong enough and i think they don't need to get more improvements cause they are tought already and FO is about balance not how powerfull they are in the show...

I think that may already be considered, because the game already includes buttons for 6 chassis levels.

thanks optec, i think putting in the miranda would be cool, but thanks for checking, and what do you mean by balancing formulas?
oh and also, for the warp in, the whole descent thing for 8 credits? um tavaras are 4, and a tavara could take a descent or avalon any day, so i dont belive thats balanced very well, yes i know tavaras cost money, but still....
yes i know that, but i think that they need some more late game streght for balance, because as you said fleet ops is all about balance, which is why i said increas the reource cost a bit, and time to keep it balanced, and more chassises so the betetr ships take longer to get, so it is balanced, because this whole idea is about better balance
what do you mean 6? i only count 3 you only need to reserch 3 to get the sovy

@ Ray320: Tavaras cost 1000 d (a few hundred T) ... but then upgrades for them cost another 700 d 700 t . Likewise races are not supposed to be mirrors of eachother. Just because the Descent isn't uber powerful doesn't mean it should be scaled up to match the Tavara as the two sides are balanced not by being identical. Aka, a Tac Cube can take on more than 4 Tavaras and win... is that unbalanced?

They are not used, but they come with the game.

okay what is with the accusing that i want all the races to be like each other? all im saying is that i would like a litte more strenght in the later gaame, the descent thing was a very small part of it, i like the small fleet of ships idea, or a promethius in there for the wearp in, but the whole point of this topic, is if your read the first post, fes late game strength, as the fo team has said, fleet operations is 50% cannon 50%gamplay and balance, yes there not supposed to mirros of each other and there not, however if the borg were like in fo what they are in the show, then itd be like wolf 359, cept tere wouldnnt be picard to find a way to kill the cube

I know they are not in (I did say They are not used), what I did say was that the game comes with 6 buttons and the idea of having more than 3 may have already be considered.

I'm exited to see that mini-fleet warp in for the starfleet command, I mean a single steamrunner class warping into a losing battle...kinda makes me chuckle

Speaking of multi-ship Warp-In, will they all be the same ship? 2 Steamrunners & a Galaxy/Nebula sound more realistic than 3 of the same class too me.

Well I believe they had plans to add the TMP excelsior as wellas the Ambassador. That resulting warp in fleet could then be Steamrunner, Excelsior, Nebula (DD, CL, BC)

That's the beauty of the Warp-In, since it's a distress Class you never know what you will get (maybe even 3 Galaxy's!)

yeah thatd be cool to get like a mini fleet ya know, a constitution even, so like you get a galaxy, constellation, ambasador, and nova class in a mini fleet, if they put nova in, or excelsior, theres many different ones they could put in for a mini fleet

but warp in is not the main thing, the main thing is just in general, the feds need greater late game strenght
