I don't think it will be that much of a problem because even though it will have a higher offensive value than the Descent it will still probably be less powerful than the combined fire power of 3 vessels you could have gotten if you used the normal warp-in. Add to this the fact that it will have a lower defensive value and no shield recharge the vessel will have a lot less staying power and will be much harder to retreat once the defense forces show up. Because it won't last as even close to as long it shouldn't do any more damage than a rouge Descent would despite its higher firepower.

I would love the idea of a couple of different Warp-In's with different OFF/DEF values, and this one for sure.. I'm sure the federation has several ships at one time that could be considered prototypes or experimental. The "Experimental" button is a little sterile as it is now, as it basically is just a different way to get a certain ship, other than building one. You always get the same vessel with the same stats, just as if you built it.

as an offensive warpin in general i think it should take 4 slots like a descent, and not be that fast. i think it would die if used as a kamikaze strike force.

Wouldn't that make it too similar to the upcoming Artillery warp-in?
I would argue a vessel with roughly Sovereign speed, perhaps weapons in burst fire. High initial damage, relatively low ROF

I think the proteus looks quite nice!!! If its implemented how about making it a cruiser with mid range weapons limited to lets say max 8 ships (like the Dominion T 15 i think)
It should be faster than an avalon class ship.
And as an researchable technology how about giving it a special armour that can be activated when the shields have collapsed ( just like the future tech from voyager Endgame, these hull plating against the borg, that lasts about 10 seconds, absorbs extreme amount of damage and has a long recharge time before it can be used again because it is experimental bla bla....) That would give the feds additional offensive capabilities

P.S If it should be implemented as a warp in.I know the devs dont like big ships as warp in , so why not make this special warp in cost some dilithium and tritanium??
By the way i think there should be also a choise between normal warp in and experimental warp in maybe even an extra science building  :D :D

Large ships aren't excluded from Warp-In, they're just not as common.

I like the armor idea, but maybe make it so it can be deployed whether the shields are up or not? Make it a toggle weapon, and maybe cost supplies to not be OP. I still don't think its good on this ship if it will be the offence counterpart to the Descent's defence. I think that would be cool on the descent though.

Have you seen the latest screens thats exactly the sice that i ve imagined when i thought about the protheus class. :thumbsup:What do you guys think about making the protheus class even some kind of special Risner Avatar ship as an replacement for the sovereign class. But i think this ship should be more expensive than the sovereign. So its used in late game
I mean it would fit very well to risner its an offensive ship concept with extra future tech armor just like she has that Magnan phasers on the phalanx.

To be realitic I don't think there's a chance for this one, but it would be nice to make a button to chose your own ships. The Excalibur-class won't be in the warp-ins or any where. I would anyones opinion on the Melbourne or Frontier-classes to be possible future warp-ins.

if the devs make it a warp in ship only via experimental warpins  it WILLLLLLL give me the perrrrfect reason to use that BUTTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOOP WOOP WOOP

can u tell im abit hyper about this yet? lol  need more to convince ya? lol

If you mean the Proteus, it's available in another thread (if with a slightly altered paintjob). I'm still waiting to see what the devs think of the ship as a Ex Warp-In.

870 meters in length? That thing would, well not dwarf, be 200m larger than a Sovereign

Why are all these fan based designs such enormous hulks. All the eggs in a single basket again?

Let's return to the days of smaller yet capable designs such as the Steamroller, Akira and Intrepid.  :sweatdrop:

'All eggs is one basket' and 'big' are not the same thing. Sovereigns were never implied to be anything but combat-focused and are larger than any Starfleet ship except the Galaxy. You really have an obsessive and irrational phobia of large battleships.

Not that I'm saying small ships are bad, I just don't get why you're so passionate in hating big things when many fan-ships range from small to Sovereign-level size. Though, I agree with you about 870 being a bit over the top.
