Any chance the Proteus Class could be given a place in a Federation Shipyard? It's a nice, if strange, 25th century design.

And maybe a Terran version as a map unit?

I like it could be the risner experimental warp in being more powerful than the decent suiting her avatar but with much less defense than the decent.

To be honest, i simply do not like the design. Shape of the hull and the large black areas.

I would rather see an upgraded Intrepid design such as the Cochrane Class from STO

Why have you put up another picture of the Proteus? I'd expect a picture of the ship you're talking about would be a better one to upload. As a STO ship, it's probably an eyesore anyway.

EDIT: I assume this 'box with engines' in the Cochrane Class you mean? I wonder what FO would be like with the starship equivilent of Quasimodo?

The Proteus looks like a combination of the Akira's and Achilles' designs... Considering the FO-timeline it would totally fit in as one of the really new ship-classes, however since FO doesn't include the Achilles it would only have half its basis there.

Optec? Please share some insight

Wow, I really like this design! I usually don't go for the crazy stretched swoopy stuff, but this is really sharp. It actually has really good lines. Love to see it as on offensive experimental warp-in.

I like it.  There aren't too many directions you can go in from the original Enterprise design (wider, longer, pointier, etc...) so I find it hard to judge any of them as "bad."

Of course, a REAL Proteus looks like this:

and is made by the Gallente Federation, but I'm willing to overlook it just this once  :D

the proteus neither offends nor pleases me. so i wouldnt oppose it.

if they put the cochrane in i will seriously (not seriously) demand my donation back. ewwww. its hard to imagine somebody designed something so ugly.

I put up the picture as an example of the black areas and shape.

As for the STO Cochrane the design isn't pretty, but the concept of an upgraded Intrepid class appeals to me.
I proposed such a ship before:
Federation Fleet: Intrepid X

Edit:

In the past i also proposed this vessel (looks like a kit bash i know)
Federation Fleet: Khitomer

As we're looking for experimental Federation designs...

so they are gonna upgrade the intrepid by replacing its newer tilty nacelles (which probably do something useful lol, although we will never know what) with older galaxy style nacelles?

But a lot more firepower :)

Upgrade firepower by downgrading the nacelle design? Interesting logic...

Well i like it better it seems to balance the intrepid out some.

That actually does look like a pretty cool design.  I could actually see the FO Feds making a design like that :).
