answer..... no i've never played empire earth

but sounds interesting.. but surely the prom would have to be made a lot stronger than your other ships.. seeing as how the Enterprise would be the logical choice for fed hero ship this would overpower the feds :(

putting more than one hero ship for a single race would just be boring a game could be over as soon as your hero ships reach an enemy base

idea for a klingon hero ship... the Duras sisters Bop :shuriken:

A hero ship would not be a god ship(That has already been established, Itg might however be slightly more powerfull ie, heal faster, move faster have beter/diferent special weapons), and you could have diferent heros depending on your avatar probably.

The ships given using the Add-on idea i explained wouldn't be hero ships, they'd just be average ships with new special abilities or different attributes that you'd usually not have. They're designed to add new tactical options to your strategy.

For example the Prometheus would be a stronger version of the Defiant and would have MVAM. Other examples could be the Aegian class with its sheild enhancer, or a Defiant variant that can build minefeilds.

You could even have alien ships at starfleet command for warping in. So for instance in a fed mission near Klingon space you could allow the player to use their credits to call in Klingon ships (with their special weapons automatically equipped) from starfleet command.

I say no MVAM. Have you worked out the plausibility on this? I dont like it.

if they were to be just average ships, you may as well build them yourself, the normal way.

as for the prom being a stronger version of the defiant. havent a clue what you mean  it's not even a defiant variant. the MVAM just wont work. every download i've tried for it, it doesn't work quite right (respect to the modders for tryin though :) ) I don't think it will ever work right for A2.

as for calling in reinforcements.. would over power some races..
fill in the gaps..
feds call in klingons
klingons call in feds
noxter call in ???
rommies call in ??? ( tal shiar possibly but they don't get on too well)
borg call in ??? ( more borg ... no real point)

well thats just my opinion :P

True, but having them only buildable on some missions would make each mission unique, as you would have new tactical options or enemies to fight. They represent specialist vessels assinged to situations where starfleet feels them needed. (i.e. if your mission was say, to locate somthing, then you might be able to build a special long range sensor ship to help your search, or you might have vessels added that specialise in attacking a particular race).

I described the Prometheus as a stronger Defiant becuase they are similar in terms of roles. Both are warships designed to whoop ass, and from what i have seen and read on it, it seems stronger than the Defiant (In voyager IIRC, it easily destroys two Romulan warbirds). As for MVAM, i've never actually seen any of the MOD's with it, so i can't comment. I had it in my head i was just a seperation then fusion concept like the Galaxy's saucer seperation.

The ability to call in reinforcments from alien allies would be a rare ability probably restricted to single player missions only, as i agree, it would cause horrendous balancing problems.

in theory the MVAM should work, but unlike the galaxy's seperation, it creates 3 "ship pieces" . the most promising dl i tried seperated fine B) but when u try to fuse them back together it just spawns more of these "ship pieces"

in other words once you have seperated the prom you'll never get it back together again

the defiant and promitheus were not designed with the same thing in mind. Yes they were designed to be able to take care of themselves but the Defiant was meant to be an escort vessel while the promie was designed for front line combat :tank:

oh yeah forgot to add, you said having them buildable on some missions, well this is good :pimp: but would totally depend on a single player campaign of some kind... surely????

Actuly the defiant was meant to be a warship for the frontlines, the "escort" clasificiation was a cover. The Prometheus is a long range deep space ship. Its meant to be fast and powerfull so it can survive out in the middle of nowhere in unexplorded space.

indeed, and defiant was originally designed as an answer to the borg threat

But it also was efficient against the dominion, fast and maneuverable like the bug ships, but could take them out with a hit from the phasers or quantum torpedos easily.

That was towards the end of the war, and that was the hero ship, u cannot judge all defiant classes with just seeing The Defiant :hmmm:

Same as one would judge all sovies from what Enterprises abilities are

exactly with the problems that erose from the defiant prototypes trial run the production model had to be scaled down and was reduced to the escort role.

not all defiants got the romie cloak for example :cloak:

The defiant used in season 7 seemed to be just the same as the one used in the other seasons (that being the prototype). The other defiant class we have seen have seemed just as powerfull as our USS Defiant. The USS Valiant held its own against a Dominion Dreadnought for a while and survived behind enemy lines for several months. (Without a cloak since only the USS defiant ever got one)
