Jep, the Prometheus will either be a Hero unit or a Descent replacement in a future version. v4 possibly

well i think all races should have a hero ship, and each race should only be able to build one, federation-prometheus, romulans-tavara, borg-cube(or fusion cube), klingons ...... well klingons have no ship that could be put as a hero ship........

what if insted of the klingons having a hero ship thay are givin some uther kinda exstra?

like the hero on the klingon ship can move from ship to ship makeing what ever ship the hero is in the hero ship. - i dont know if this is posabul it whood relay requier some out of the box thinking.

Well if there will be heros they will definitely not come on v3 :) But ideas are always useful of course ^_^

i thot we wher gona have hero ships.

i am of mixed feeling about tham i can see haw han can be usefull for 'SP leval' but if thares no 'SP levals' thare is no need for tham. with out SP levals hero ships are just chliledish to me.

Well they worked gr8 in other games(warcraft 3, Red alert 2 among others) in MP as well not just single player. Why wouldnt they work in FO??

Also before anyone starts talking I consider Tany and that russian guy in red alert 2 as heroes

well i can see haw it works for those games. but armada is a hole difrant thing than war craft or red alert both red alert and war craft are spost to have some humer in tham.

fleetops is difrant fleetops is a serisos game. not to say that a serisos game cant have hero ships. i just cant see haw it will work well. unless thay are in SP levals.

Klingons should easily have a hero ship as they sing songs about hero's all the time. But there isn't such a thing as a special class for a hero for klingons. well unless you count for that D'tai or k'vort or BOP ship that could fire while coaked that was in teh ST movie with Kirk

well i totally dissagre with ewm(what a shock ^_^ ) i belive that hero ships could play a vital role even when playing against human, if they are powerfull enough, and if they have usable special weapons, they should be a vital stratagy asset

Well the thing is that in start trek no matter, how serious it is, EXIST really A LOT of heroes(Picard, Janeway, Sisqo, Martok,.....) and they should play a vital role in the best ST RTS too as they do in "real" life ^_^

indeed, and it would bring a more "watch out for your ships" into the game, since you won't want to loose your hero ship

anyway think hero ships should be put in as they would help defend early on against quick building races, noxter (surprisingly enough the rommies as well) :cloak:

Has anyone here ever played Empire Earth? On that, you somtimes had special units that you could not build normally, but had a few of under your command, or could built just for that mission. Maybe somthing similar could be done with the Prometheus in FO, especially if the team try out a single player.

Example mission: Starfleet has ordered you to patrol the neutrual zone. We believe the Borg may be in the area, so were assinging a Prometheus class vessel to your command. It's fresh out of Utopia Planitia, so for gods sake, bring it back in one peice :lol:

The beauty of the above idea is its so easy to impliment. Just make the ship and then either put it on the map somehow, or if you want it buildable in a mission, simply make a techtree file for the mission and add it onto the appropriate shipyard. This could also be done on Assault maps and somesuch as little extras to make each map offer a new challange.
