If you ask me, this thread deserved being hijacked  :innocent:

I couldn't watch the entirety of the Nemesis one unfortunately: gf started to look over my shoulder, and I can't have her watching - or hearing - part of the script of the Wrath of Kahn before she watches it  :sweatdrop:

Well, in order to get this topic slightly back on topic, I would like to propose a slight revision in FleetOps' reason for no buildable Galaxys. The Galaxy Class is far too new of a design to completely end at this point in time, but they are certainly too cost-ineffective to have as a buildable ship. As we all know, Galaxy-Class starships are essential fortresses. This means that it is extremely impractical to build these ships right off the bat. What I'm saying is, Galaxy Classes should remain unbuildable in-game, but their production in the Federation should not be completely halted. They should still be built, but WAAAAYYYY back at yards like Utopia Planita where they can receive everything they need in order to be fully functional ships. It ceratinly fits better than completely ceasing any and all production of a relatively new ship

Nope. Not really. I'll find any way to keep the Galaxy and her legacy alive and well. It's a kind of unhealthy obsession.... but one that I am prepared to live with

Well, the Devs have made up their mind ;)

The "debate" has been waged by the very few for a very many years :D

you know, I'm sorry, but I gotta point this out. It's hard to win a war, when the people you're fighting against are basically infinite in their power over what you're fighting over...

i dont see how a 45 year old starship is a new design?

45 years?! God, that makes me feel old for some reason..... :crybaby:

Well FO is something like 30 years after nemesis, and nemesis is 15 years after the enterprise launched.

That makes the Galaxy design even older.

The first was the USS Galaxy, that was launched before Enterprise did. Years before.

Memory Alpha wrote:According to the Star Trek: The Next Generation Technical Manual, the Galaxy was launched from the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards on Mars in 2356 and commissioned in 2357.

The USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-D) was a Galaxy-class starship commissioned in 2363.

So the design is over FIFTY years old in FO timeline. Definitely obsolete.

Well, maybe they can make a Galaxy II class... In fact.... I think I'm going to get started on that.

The question you are looking for is "Why isn't the Galaxy Class buildable?"

EDIT: some typos...

Maybe a little late in the discussion but needs to be said.... Your saying that the galaxy class is not being used because few exist in the startrek universe... Ok fair enough, so who the f**k are the noxons they dont exist in the st universe... Yeah this argument makes sence.

I'll put it easier:

The Galaxy is not buildable just because. Deal with it. :P

Damn those Fedrats and their toys...

The Fleet Ops Timeline is different to the official Star Trek timeline. They spilt in the middle of Voyager. Are you saying that in Star Trek we have seen every race there is to be seen and therefore the Noxter can't exist?
