No, pretty much all ships are built with prefabricated parts, today and in all the sci fi series i've ever seen(minus those organic vessels). I still fail to see the relevance with modeling and texturing a bunch of separate ships that are useless until being put together, VS just making a single functional ship which is the aim of it all anyway.

well if that method is so popular why would the people make such a big thing about how the dominion make their ships? :P obviously it has to have some significance, and why did the dominion ship production out number the feds &klingons & only get evened out by the rommies? :P dont say it was resources cos the dominion had access to the same resources, + they were cut off from reinforcements by the mines around the wormhole :P :blink:

Which bares no significance in this thread :mellow:

Anyway yeah it is a big deal, also when that Weyoun clone escaped he showed odo how to destroy the bug by pointin the joint between these parts. So it IS significant and it SHOULD be done for the dreadgnought!

and for the bugs too (i think two peices and one that could fight a little on it's own....) i think this would definatly make the dominion race unque and really fun to play :)

The Dominion were able to make their ships so quickly because they had so few classes of ships, they used swarm manuvers instead of using more advanced technology which took time to produce, and because yes, they used prefabricated parts, which all the speices used...So this whole idea is still pretty...useless...and a waste of time...

Baron has a good point, I forgot about the "joint" in the shielding. That really speaks to a very modular, and not very well integrated design, which makes sense for mass-produced expendable ships crewed with expendable sailors.

the klingons have few ship classes as well, they could match dominion ship building any more than the "class heavy" feds, so much so they had to bring many ships out of retirement. :P so your point is nullified :P

@baron agreed, (of course ;) )

Nullified my ***, the Klingons used outdated technology, their BoPs were usually about 30-50 years old with some of them being 80 years old. Add that to the Klingons lack of maitnance, and their usually poor technology anyway...you SHOULD see where this is going. So you and your constant :P :P :P :P are wrong...again...

the federation like to use 150 yearold starships, why are you picking on the klingons use of 30-80 year old clunkers.

Well lets see, the Romulan D'deridex class Warbird is about 20-30 year old design first seen in TNG. The oldest Klingon ship is about as old as the oldest Federation ship, which I would say is the Oberth and Miranda. Don't go off topic now...
