You feel like a battlecruiser is too weak or a race too strong? Go ahead and discuss it here :)

Hm...
May be making the Descent unavailable until the big shipyard is built would be one step in the right direction... Or having to research something like... "Frequencies for calling experimental ships" or similar.
Or may be having three call buttons, one for early game, with a random choice of small ships, one for mid game, with the current selection, and the endgame, with the Descent and may be another design. First one is available as soon as the facilty is available, the second when you have the big shipyard and the third when you have researched all techs in the research facilities.
Dunno... That would rebalance the Warp-in feature.
I don't usually call Descents, but it's quite the temptation at the beginning to call one and have the biggest fish in the pond.

I think it's the normal warp ins that pack the bigger punch honestly, but really it isn't that hard to counter unless combined with a Canaveral. The Descent is more like an annoying fly at that time. Hard to kill, but really it doesn't do too much damage to destroyers and freighters.

Fun to throw at buildings, though.

Yeah, and we all know what happens when there is a ship blowing up mining outposts at early game...
Specially one that can attack a facility AND ignore being attacked.

i like the descent from beta 2 more... costs 325 crew, you can build 3 and it does more damage than a sovergien

....... I dunno about you guys... but the thought of all these fed ships getting refits confuses me. The Rommies try to be economical in ship chassis by using a refit system. The Feds not only have so many ships.... but also mixed tech variants... I personally would like a suggestion of civil vessels maybe... but not any of the major combat ships.
The Repair ship already has refits...
Though with the Mediterranean, It could have 2 optional refits, 1 giving it a special weapon that works similar to the descent's shield recharge. And the other refit would give a tractor beam... or... something good.
The Freighters... upgrade the cargo space! That is what the feds would do, refit the freighter to have more cargo space for more resources. Like maybe you could visually see it add cargo containers as you refit...

anyone remember the "good ole days" where the SFC was a starbase looking thing with NO WEAPONS (still doesnt) and was nothing more than a glorified shipyard?
ships would come out, one at a time, till its star limit was reached?
you could actually CHOOSE the ship's you wanted.
am i the only one who misses that?

There are probably a few people who miss the old way, even tough it doesn't fit the purpose of the SFC and was just a shipyard with no repair bays...

it was pretty OP back then, beause you could just throw 3er packs of descents at your enemy, each pack only csting 350 crew...

In a word. Yes.
A stream of free Galaxies heading to my base was just pure nonsense.

I'm sorry but I cannot agree with giving the feds more of a punch.
As for right now the only reason to tech to Akiras at all is to have just that: a little extra firepower that doubles as a damage sponge.
I will admit though: with Mayson there is simply no reason to tech at all unless the game drags on past the early stages.
1: Your sabers keep your opponents distracted and their destroyers down.
2: Your Norways destroy clusters.
3: Your Canaverals control the battle.
4: Your Warp-In's provide the extra direct damage.
IF ... that isn't enough
5: You make Excel II's and bombard everything still living.
Risner can be more fun to play because you aren't given destroyer-busting Norways and have to use your mid-level ships to greater effect. Akira's actually measure up to Excel II's and combine nicely with whatever you get from the Warp-ins. I just feel like the Feds already have such excellent control over a battlefield that providing them with more firepower will just ... make it no fun ...
I mean stop me if you disagree, but I feel like not really yelling out OP or IMBA until I see what 3.08 has in store. Clearly these iddues are not new and will have been addressed.
Until then All Your Base Are Belong To Us.

I would only like to say that I would vote to keep the Warpin random, because it should be if it is still suppose to be a a distress call of sorts. Now the experimental warpin i wouldn't have a problem with makeing a selected warp, only you should have a selection of "fresh out of dock" So that it would take a really long time to get there, or random select where it warps in the experimental ship in your area.
Anything to stop spamming, like Dom said, but without introducing major fleet caps.

I'd even like to see more variety in the Experimentals ... Perhaps a Prometheus or even a sexy experimental Defiant varient? That's the one I want.

No, I don't like warp in. You don't always get reinforcements each time you issue a call and the
ships are underpowered. If you think they are overpowered then read the odf files.
Look at the Galaxy's shield str, recharge rate, and health rate. Pretty low for a battleship especially when you switch to type 3 torps. The Nebula isn't any better, and never need to use full scan; realisticaly the Nebula has no special ability. The only decent ship for warp in is the Descent and Excelsior which can fire an additional torpedo. Why not give the Galaxy and Nebula burst fire torpedoes like in the show?
Yes, the Sovereign combined with the remoore class makes a powerful team, but that does not make them overpowerd in the least. The Romulans have more than enough offensive and defensive power to make up for it and the Klingons have Moq'bara station.

Look at the Galaxy's shield str, recharge rate, and health rate. They are nothing to brag about especially when you switch to type 3 torps. I never even use the Nebula's full scan when you can build better ships. Now you want to reduce the Feds power???
And you evidently haven't tried the using the Warp-In properly...
