Federation is Unerpowered
You feel like a battlecruiser is too weak or a race too strong? Go ahead and discuss it here :)

It's true. They're all overpowered.

The Federation is underpowered mostly because of the amount of time it takes to build ships at the Eraudi yard and the cost of the shipyards. At least reduce the costs of the shipyards and the build times of the vessels built at the Eraudi yards.

None of the factions have fast build times or cheap costs for their large yards.

Again no need to repeat the past, somtimes it just takes someone taking you online and teaching you how to play, as dominus did for me sometime time ago, tcr if you ever want to play let me know.

No, but with the Federation, it's ridiculously high. At the very least, allow them to compensate with turrets. Those things are worse than the ships because all they do is delay the enemy while you try to build or rebuild your fleet.
PS: Don't use any profanity in the game, and I'll play.

Try building a cube, TCR. Or sitting through the buildtime on a D'deridex. The feds are fine, and are the easiest faction to win with, as a general thing.

there cost arent high at all, they can pump out Large ships quite easily, people have no trouble get Excels II or Avalons which come with currently over powered fighters so it is obviously the way you play that is the problem...
Also try not to focus so much on big ships anyway when the feds have so many strong starting ships you dont need loads of big ships...
Feds already strong turrets and no races turrets should be made stronger, turrets are made expensive and only good earlier game to stop turtling at a base which would make boring game play!!!
And you still havent given one reason for why they are over powered, just what you want changed... you havent explained where you have pulled these figures of %50 this or 12% that from, how you have tested this changes with, have you even tested, what to do they mean for the balance of the other races...
also why not explain your tactics, what race your player, what level the AI is... honestly your whole argument is a joke

TCR I think the thing here is that the suggestions you're making do smell a lot like they are coming from a strategy vs. the AI. That ain't gonna work against human Players
.
Others have said it, I'll repeat it: Hop online and Boggzy will show you some Fedrollin'
.
P.S. you can always watch some of the millions of 1 v 1 or 2 v 2 replays out there and watch the Federation juggernaught at it's best. Try Pre-3.1 Fed replays
and you'll see why they are the way now they are.

I dunno
1. just want to point out that at some point it might actually happen that Feds do become weaker, but because we're so used to them as overpowered it just isnt seen (or they stay the same, but we make everyone else stronger, therefore they become weaker by default... its quite possible).
2. I'm sure each race is stronger/weaker in their respective areas, so its not like Federation have everything given to them. They must have something which is a little slow to build, or expensive to make. But this is intended, to balance out some of their strengths.
3. Yeah, I don't play online so I have to give more cred to those who play on their all the time as to whether races are balanced... and I suspect Federation is fairly well balanced from a lot of the comments. People seem to be able to win with them. When we start hearing that its harder and harder to win as Feds... then maybe start thinking theyve been weakened a bit. But for now, I'm sure its good.
I'm neutral either way, I play as Klingon mostly. But as far as discussion goes, if someone thinks Federation is underpowered and they are not, just explain why what they think of as weak isn't weak. I imagine because of free warpins, something must have been tweaked to make someting more expensive or slower to build. Anyways, I dunno.

The sole reason for turrets is to delay. They're not supposed to replace ships.
I'm probably one of the more vocal members for additions to the federation (Intrepid variants, replacing the Phalanx and so forth.
One thing which certainly cannot be said about the feds is that they UP though. In fact due to the fact that their vessels are versatile they're probably one of the strongest (if not THE strongest) factions.
Each faction has a focus:
Federation: generalists/strong shields
Romulans: Stealth and specials
Klingon: Speed and firepower
Dominion: Spam and late game some horribly powerful units.
Borg: Resistance is futile. Able to take a lot of punishment, crews vulnerable, impressive firepower
You may try some of the different factions, perhaps one of them will be better matched with your particular style.

I want to be able to build up some turrets to provide heavy defenses for the base and upgrade those turrets as the game goes on. Build defenses first with some offensive power, then build up the fleet under the protection of turrets. The current gameplay doesn't allow it. If anything, the turrets should be upgradable to transfer into late-game.

The current gameplay doesn't allow it because the game is designed in such a way as to discourage turtling. What you're proposing is turtling.

It's balanced for fast-paced gameplay. Any strategy that isn't fast-paced is defeated instantly. That has to be changed.

That's why perimeters are capped and the good turrets are more expensive than battleships.

This depends on the player's skills and to a small but fair part on luck (considering miss-rates and the movement AI doing weird stuff).

The turrets shouldn't cost that much at all. They don't need life support, they're very small, and they don't need engines. They should only cost about half as much as a battleship.
