You feel like a battlecruiser is too weak or a race too strong? Go ahead and discuss it here :)

Nice idea

Caps lock, bold and underlined, ouch, all that angry formatting really made it louder in my head (!) u need to take a chill pill. If u actually read my post properly i never said that u said they used cloaks, my point was that as they dont use cloaks they shouldnt be masters of decloaking, pretty simples.

I agree with Tyler, Myles, neat idea.
Prehaps a relay option for probes to essently become sensor stations, have the upgrade be expenseve, but the station have quite long range.

Sorry about that. I really wish I hadn't done that.
I understand where you're going. But the Borg have assimilated factions that use cloak and cloak detection systems. Therefore, the Borg should be able to improve on the systems that they assimilated and make them even better at detecting cloaked vessels. Making the Borg the best at cloak detection. But the Borg only use such devices if they know that there is a cloaked vessel in the area.
So, maybe the Borg should have a toggle weapon on every vessel that enables cloak detection for a short while if is suspected that there's a cloaked vessel in the area. That would be consistent with Borg tactics of not using specialized detection systems unless they think it's necessary to use them.

The cloaking devices used by different races use different tech, making the capture and adaption to one system not as effective against countering other races as simple as it would seem. No matter how many you capture, it doesn't guarantee success.
Adding to that is the habit of continually upgrading cloaks to resist enemy counters that would negate defenses, which means they'd have to adapt again.

EM Scout Cubes are useless. The only way to detect a cloaked vessel is when the vessel decloaks right on top of you and starts firing, then cloaks to retreat. Then you'll still eventually loose them.
If there was a special to send out a single tachyon ping when cloaked vessels are suspected, that would make the EM scout cube much more useful. The ping would be sent out every time the user hit the button with a maximum shot delay of 10 seconds. If a vessel is suspected, send out a tachyon ping.

I like the idea of working with sensor relays, that feels like what the borg would do. Here are 2 ideas:
1. What if the sensor relay got a small tachyon ping? Structures like the Dode relay and other races' sensor platforms have HUGE tachyon pings because they're stationary, while some things have medium pings which are less useful. If you made a ping that's only about the size of a starbase, it could still be used to detect cloak but would be easily avoidable. (Problem: the borg may spam them everywhere until it slows down the game. You might have to put a timed life on the relay.)
2. Give the relay a single large tachyon ping that it sends out anywhere from instantly to 3-4 seconds after being dropped. Then it remains on the map but will never ping again. Or perhaps you can select the relay and tell it to ping using energy that it has to store. You could even give the relay the ability to ping with a resource cost attached. Nothing expensive like the probe's report, just a little something to make the player think twice before spamming it.

While the Feds and Klingons and Dominion can just crawl across the map, dotting it with relatively cheap and quick-building sensor platforms that ping constantly (and in the case of the Dominion, ping BIG)?

... What about the Klingons? They get by just fine with very similair cloak detect, except the brel is much more fragile. If the Borg could detect cloaked ships so easily and so fast, then what chance would cloaked races have against the Scube/probe rush? I mean you cant say that EM scubes are "useless" when you don't use it for the right purposes. As it is right now, the Borg have a very unique and cannon form of cloak detect.
Having the Borg ping be able to ping with really easy tech would be extremely unbalanced and I don't think that any changes are necessary. ^^

The Klingons have sensor stations. 4 supply, and a low cost in di and tri will get them a little thingie out in space that pops pings. It's not tough, it's not a huge ping, but it allows them to defend their base. Thus, the bloody Klingons have better cloak detect than the Borg. The race that thinks science is worthless unless it blows something up, or guts someone.

I meant a minimum shot delay of 10 seconds. Once sent out, you would have to wait at least 10 seconds before sending out another one. But I don't understand why having a tachyon ping on the scout cube would be over powered. But if you insist, have the ping consume some special energy.

Romulans should always be the masters of cloaking and cloak detection. However, I may be willing to agree that Borg need something a little better in the area of cloak detection.... wonder what the new patch will bring us.... i hear Christmas is not far away... maybe we will a nice present.
