FO 3.0 installs without a hitch (tried both with, and without a previous Armada 2 install), however, when trying to launch the game, I get this:

Any idea what's missing here?

Have you sent that bug report to the team via mail (press the first button)?

Doesn't work since I don't have the email client configured, and while it does give me the content of the email it would have sent, it does not give me the adress it would have sent it to.

However, I have now also tried installing it on another system, getting the same error.
Also, forgot to mention, when trying the "preexisting exe" install, I did launch Armada 2 classic beforehand to check if it works - it did.

its weird, cause the report is stating that you ran out of memory o_0

hm.. do you have a set-pagefile (the virtual memory thingy of windows)? maybe increasing that to the doubled amount of your ram might fix this issue.

It already is double the RAM. And as you can see on the screencap, I have plenty of memory free. It's really wierd because it gives the error on two different systems.
It's really kind of annoying because I was looking forward to this since, well, years.

Time for an update. Tried compatability modes, which results in:
a) Same error with Win 2k compatability mode
b) A complete halt of the armada 2 process at 5mb allocated and no further reactions with all compatability modes older than 2k.

Additional settings (visual themes, enforce 640x480, etc.) have no effect whatsoever.

Still hoping to play this sometime this year.

backup your fleetopshook.dll and fleetopshook.map and install this package, see if this gives you any improvement

if the issue still persists, please send me a log again

Any idea what the problem could be? Because it looks like my system denies FleetOps access to the resources, something I haven't really seen since the old DOS days.

Patched with the latest, sadly still the (seemingly) same error. Bugreport is sent.
I'll try the usual phalanx of tests (with Armada 2 preinstalled, vanilla patched/unpatched, etc.).

could you try to delete the following folder
xp:
C:Documents and SettingsApplication DataStar Trek Armada II Fleet Operations
or Vista
C:UsersAppDataRoamingStar Trek Armada II Fleet Operations

note that these files may be hidden in the default configuration of Windows.
