1: Sorry if I seemed condescending, I didn't mean to be. I'm just trying to have a good time on the interwebz. CPR for a hole in the chest was pretty funny.
2: You gotta watch R vs. B if you haven't already.
3: As a nerd, I refute your claim that I don't know what CPR does (Charged Particle Revolver
).
*clears throat*
If you pay enough attention to Star Trek, you become familiar with the concept of what the weapon leaves behind. There are numerous ways {supposedly} a particle weapon can kill beyond the wound itself. Jem'Hadar weapons leave an anti-coagulant in the wound. Some weapons were indicated to contain a neural disruption energy which really makes a lot of sense. In Voyager, they even added nanoprobes to Nadion Rifles (which would be Starfleet phaser rifles if you didn't know).
Since we don't know what Pike was shot with specifically, there are numerous assumptions that can be made plot-wise; Spock may have recognized the weapon that was used or there wasn't a medkit close by (though kinda dumb). Who knows? It'd make a fun technical debate though.

No it wasn't. You have simply misread what I wrote, and added that meaning yourself.
The assertion was NOT that CPR is the way to treat a hole in the chest. CPR is how you treat "his heart and lungs have stopped". The hole in the chest can be dealt with secondly, but first you've got to keep the patient alive.
You don't need a medkit to do CPR either. Just keep it up until a real medic arrives.
There is no reason why it would be any different to how it's done today.
