Hehe, yeah, I just call it a refit of whatever it mostly is.

Tried out poleron weapons today.  I was not really impressed, so I am going to switch to plasma.  I broke 1,000,000 e creds this morning so I still have plenty to buy with. :sweatdrop:

do the episodes sell some of the bits you dont need in the exchange, some give you good weapons esp if you re do them at rear admiral,am at 74k dilithium and 2.9 mill credits, the fed mirror event is really good way to get exp, creds and dilithium, also the borg p vs e,save the encrypted chips and rare salvage and tech can be used to get top weapons and tech for your ship and person, halfway down the klingon set is the retrofit phaser if you fancy old style blue ones, also a plasma, disruptor hybrid beam does 285 damage,
am looking to get a defiant i think 80k dilithium,i love my akira class, but the power of my odyssey is undeniable, also when you are good the difficulty can be changed for both a challenge and better equipment drops, dont think i would pay for some of the exclusive ones as i dont mind the ones that are free or avail with dilitium as it adds up fast esp with the duty officer assignments

I've gone for Plasma Weapons myself, after a brief flirtation with quantums. Even swapped out my phasers for plasma beams and such.

What would a more experienced player than myself (not a difficult challenge! hehe) recommend as a loadout for a Heavy Cruiser? (specifically the Excelsior, but I guess it doesn't play that different to the Cheyenne anyway).  I've so far got Dual Plasma Beams, a Plasma Cannon and Plasma Torpedo Launcher on the fore, and two Plasma Beams and Plasma Mines on the rear. Is that a good setup or am I better off with a different combination?

In my experince when using a cruiser Mines at the rear can be a very effective countermeasure against slow moving torpedoes. I would like to learn how to tank a cruiser, i loved my akaria class then i switch to a defiant class i wish i had taken the galaxy class though, the defiant is fast and nimble but up against a ship like a romulan D'Deridex warbird you have to use hit and run tactics or youll get creamed. But i recently started a new account and i plan on taking a different approach.

If you use a rapid fire offficer ability(don't remember the exact name) and dual heavy cannons, it is pretty easy to take out the shields of a slow target like a big D with the defiant, then quickly swing around and dump a couple torps into the hole you made.  :D

The damage done in the end is calculated by many factors though.
Cannons are energy-weapons, so all your character-skills for those count.
If you are an engineer, it's unlikely you focus that much on weapons. I even had a hard time constructing a character-build that can at least focus on a little more than just science (also I've mostly skilled for space, much less for ground). I tried out all my free respec-tokens to test stuff, but as it is now, it's almost best. I basically could only trade some damage-dealing for more damage-tanking - which is bad for science-officers anyways.

It took a while, but I finally got that Galaxy I've been aiming for! Unfortunatly, I can't use the registry I wanted and had to swap the first two numbers around...

Congratulations, Captain

It's actually a shame that registries have to begin with 9 in STO. I wonder why the Cryptic-devs made it that way.
