as much as i prefer the real trek over jj trek, it was the only way trek was ever gonna move forward.
id rather have jj trek (separate from real trek of course) than no trek at all.
all people expect now is the big star wars space battles and the PEW PEW PEW lazor spam. jj is in a good place to provide that.
we are the old trek fans, i prefer episodes with content, like "DS9: Duet" where most of the climax took place in a prison.
we cant compare jj trek to real trek, especially since we all like real trek so much, it would take something special to even come close.

One thing I can take from have a video game design the next enterprise. there will not be a ent F that gets much TV time.
likely they will not have a series basted of F. F^$k that.
They are probably going to jump to a different time line to create a new series. Part of the pull of a new look of the ship, if they start a new series on a ship that every one knows they will lose that.
And there the F factor the F jokes will go out of controle fast.

Half-canon...official...same thing no matter how you spin it.
Also CBS/Paramount has said before that the events of STO(and Path to 2409) count towards canon. All the ships are canon, its not debatable. They have changed the rules people.

Official isn't the same as 'half-canon'; it has no canon at all. Not interchangeable.

plain wrong. canon is only what is in a tv show or movie. if CBS/paramount decide to make a movie or tv show with this stuff then it will BECOME canon, but it is not canon before then. that is not debatable, canon is not debatable, the memory alpha policy explains in extreme detail what canon is. and stuff that appears only on a website, or only in a game are not canon.
the day CBS/paramount make a movie which includes a ship then i will consider it canon. until then its not canon. end of.
there is no such thing as canon or half canon, canon is black or white. you are either canon or not canon. nothing in between.
canon = you appeared in a film or tv show. this is every episode of tos, tas, tng, ds9, voy, ent, and every film (jj trek is mentioned below)
not canon = everything else.
jj trek is canon as it is trek, but it is considered an "alternate" canon, thats why its given the header at the top of ma pages, saying alternate timeline. jj trek is valid, but on its own. so jj trek is canon, just a different canon from normal trek.
EDIT: added tas, forgot about it. it was on screen so its canon.

someone said it allready tho....our star trek is dead......a good memory thats it.
I liked the new movie don't get me wrong, but I miss a steady show on tv....sigh....never again will I experience the sheer excitement of watching an episode I have never seen before....

What exactly destroyed the E?
What do we need an F for? I didn't read the whole thread(only pages 1 and 3).
Ah, I hated those Star Wars effects
, the music was rubbish, too. BUT I still think it was a good movie, it made people remember Star Trek(I don't know how it is in other countries, but here in Germany they forgot so fast about it... :-[). And after what I've read about the next movie so far I think/hope they'll insert some more... substance. They created nice characters(come on, you never knew anything about the Chekov, Uhura, Sulu and Chekov, they've been absolutely stereotype. Kirk, Spock McCoy were the masters) and made a nice introduction. NOW they have to use that and give it some intelligent plot as we want to see it in a real Star Trek movie!

as much as i prefer the real trek over jj trek, it was the only way trek was ever gonna move forward.

I don't think there was a cause of death stated.

the e wasnt destroyed in canon.
the f was created since presumably the e will one day be destroyed or decommed.

Unless you count the trek XI comics as canon, and even then, I don't know if they said if it was destroyed.

Hmm, I read "Countdown" and I don't remember the E to be destroyed.
I don't think we need another Enterprise.

I am playing STO right now but thats more expensive and honestly after a month of hardcore playing (hardcore for me anyway) I am considering quitting allready
It is great tho, to get in the star trek spirit again!
