What's your favourite episode? How is romulan ale brewed? - Star Trek in general :-)

Well, personally i think UDM 3.x is pretty much final. Not much you can work on. Was just wondering if some people here sometimes feel the need to play something like it.
I already tried BotE, and what shall i say: not bad at all, sadly still pretty much alpha state... and no ST

Earlier versions of BotE had a ST Content but reasons why they drop the StarTrek Content and turn the game in something else. In addition there is a Community project that turns BotE back into StarTrek Content but you are right; it don't feel right like back in the days.
There is another BotF 2 project hostet by mstrobel (here) but if you ask me --- not match happen since one year. Okay, they switching some images here and there but no significant updates.

Supremacy from mstrobel is sadly still in early alpha, and i just have to agree with you. I don't think there gonna be a major update soon.
Well, and there's still a running community for the Civ4 Star Trek mod:
Civ4 - Star Trek Mod - Civilization Fanatics' Forums
Well, haven't seen any round based strategy game that could compete with vanilla or UDM BotF, not even remotely. And since i even got the memory leak under control, till at least round 200, im quite fine with UDM-BotF.

The reason BotE took out the star trek content was to avoid any lawsuits, the idea was that once BotE was done the first thing they would do was release a Star trek mod for the game to add all the star trek content back in, there avoiding any leagal issues. Unfortunately BotF stop working for me once i upgraded to Win7, I ran the All the ages mod and it was fantastic, unfortunately it doesnt seem to work any longer on my new rig. I am really hopeing someone comes out with a proper sequal as it was one of my favorite ST games.

I would need to brush up and reinstall it, since upgrading my pc from a windows 7 64bit intel core duo, 8800gt to what i have now (same os, see signature below) I imagine it will still work well as it did before.
Best version of botf that works in windows 7 64bit was 'Main Multi Installer 1.0.2' from here Birth of the Federation:
I recommend Mod Multi Ultimate Dominion Mod 3.0.1c
Didnt get any performance problems going above 300turns but
(cant remember if it locked up the pc as it did previously, i did find a solution that if it did lock up the pc running multi display tabbing out to that with the ctrl+alt+delete, task maanger set to the 2nd display would enable you to log off or close the program)
Hope that info helps,

I tried that installer to no avail
. My setup is AMD Phenom II X6 @3.6Ghz, Asus Crosshair III formula, Radeon 6970 and 8GB DDR3. Seems like the better the hardware the harder it is to get the game to run.

supplemental: 450 rounds and no memory leaks / lags. But processing turn takes minutes,... yes... MINUTES.
Anyone ever noticed this?

I've made it pretty far in BotF without crash. I also have the mods they put out, some of which are really cool. The save feature is probably the best thing about the game, it's like an auto protector for the game's one big fuck up they never fixed. I also find when the game gets really long (400-500 plus turns), it works best to save and quit, then restart. It'll buy you up to ten turns of faster loading, at best... But still, when facing minutes of waiting getting back a few fast turns can be worth it.

First this:
Birth of the Federation: You are using an invalid IP
Then:

Remember to start those with administrator rights. If it doesn't work, try compatibility mode with xp sp2. The UDM-Mod always worked fine for me, on every system.
If you tried it with your old botf cd: good luck. last time i had the problem you described. Started the setup in every possible way - nothing happened. And like an hour later finally a dozen setup screens appeared. Kinda weird.
@ Greyusurper: well, still needs minutes for processing a turn - but seems to be a bit faster.
Have you ever played such a long game without AI enemies? Cause with my settings the input lag is more or less non existent, just those turn endings drive me nuts...

Which versions did you use?
Just tried the two files we are hosting on TS3, works like a charm.
