Let's not get into a heated arguement okay? Remember what this topic was created for...

EDIT:

The past is the past and arguing about won't help change it at all.

But I mean jesus...everyone says many millions of lives were saved by the bombs and hes still rambling about the destruction they caused, not prevented.

You know the old expression:

"Too good to be true..."

Well, thats the way war is, sure, many people were free and some disaster averted but, of course, it came at a price. Many deaths.

But PREATOR DEFIANT has a point. Without those bombs launched what would of been the intial future? More death caused by a continous war?

Chances are yes, there was a 95% chance of more war because of the japanese klingon-ness when it comes to honor. Once they saw that they would die meaningless deaths and not even kill their enemy, they decided to give up.

Technically Praetor the Emperor was convinced to order his people to cease hostilities when he saw what we did to Nagasaki. The first bomb didn't even impress them too much, they thought it was a one-shot or an act of God or something. We were indeed fortunate that Nagasaki's destruction ended the war, because of course we were all out of bombs : )

Careful about saying they weren't nukes by the way, they were fission devices, commonly called nukes, but they weren't THERMOnukes, which is what you're trying to say I think.

Also, ewm, we killed 300,000 mostly innocent civilians in March 1945 in Tokyo with firebombs. Tell me how the two nukes were so inhumane?

We killed like 200,000 people in dresden during a firebombing, more then what were killed in the first day of the hiroshima and nagasaki bombings combined.

Nuclear weapons are essentially all the same expect the device you used to detonate it, and how much radioactive material is used, I don't see why saying a nuke is just a differant kind of a nuke is so important...

And the 2 atom bombs did their job of ending the war, thats undesputible.

There where 2 more unsued bombs created at the time, besides Fat man and Little Boy, now will eveyone just drop it and get back to the topic.

I want justice. There's an old poster out west, as I recall, that said, "Wanted: Dead or Alive.", Thats one fo my favourite bush quotes.

Fair enough about returning to topic. But we really were out ... another plutonium implosion device like Fat Man went operational some 4 months after cessation of hostilities, around the New Year I believe.

I'm starting to think Kerry would run the contry better. Bush is from Texas and is use to roughing it, but no one else is. Why can't he just take other peoples feelings into concideration?

Because if every president did what the population wanted and not what was actually right, then we would all be speaking german or russian.

Like I said, Kerry might run the contry better, but not perfectly.

Strange that I'm even disscusing this. I'm Canadian.

Yes quite strange, you either cut spending on pretty much everything, or you raise taxes a whole bunch to fix the deficit, bush chose to cut spending. I think Kerry would have done the other but again, we still lose, and I think more so. Whoever is in the white house is not going to do things everyone likes, so for now we will just have to live with this system of government.
