I think not. Texas can kiss my redneck/yankee @$$. Just because things are rough in Texas doesn't mean that they have to be rough elsewhere. Look at New England. They had their first execution in 25 years, which means they have a different way of life that apparently has worked. West Virginians seem to have some things made with top public schools, good roads, and some sense of stability without having to execute every other person who commits some d@mned crime. People in California apparently believe in reasonable resolves most of the time. Just because Texas is screwed up doesn't mean that we have to privatize something that can't work being privatized (believe me, our country has socialist beginnings when you consider mail service and public schools) and that we have to abbliterate treaties and allies. I live in Pennsylvania, which is screwed up by itself, but I believe in reasonable resolves, not cowboy stupidity, and Bush comes from a New England family that is totally yankee by origin and nature!!! :mad:

To make a topic about making fun of how a president screws up speechs sometimes seems pretty retarded to me. Hell I screw up talking all the time because I lack confidence, that and I think I have a speech impediment.

Yes quite strange, you either cut spending on pretty much everything, or you raise taxes a whole bunch to fix the deficit, bush chose to cut spending. I think Kerry would have done the other but again, we still lose, and I think more so. Whoever is in the white house is not going to do things everyone likes, so for now we will just have to live with this system of government.

Actually government schools were a creation of FDR, and have been something of an unmitigated disaster (compare literacy levels now versus 100 years ago). Fortunately while being far less educated we are all a lot richer due to the miracles of free enterprise, so I guess that's something.

Re. Texas being so screwed up, sure they have a different culture that may seem alien to those of the Left Coast or New England, but their violent crime rates (murder, rape, agg. assault) are much, much lower. Gee I wonder why?

True. I believe that the way to save Social Security without raising taxes or privatizing it would be to close all loopholes dipping into that particular fund and divert funds from one most unlikely source - government payroll. What I mean by government payroll is the pay of those who are either elected or appointed into office. I also believe that the tax cuts need to be rescinded. The other choices would have to be diverting funds from elsewhere or a TEMPORARY tax increase for Social Security by .5% that would be rescinded automatically by law when the Social Security budget is either balanced or surplused.
