Well, so far Chavez has failed at everything besides being yet another dictatorial buttonpusher. All he does is expand state control and restrict freedoms, spouting some BS propaganda all the while.

I can think of several things he has failed at such as reducing poverty in venaswala he failed his atmiped to be presadent for life and I know that he failed to close one of the few remanning anti chinves meda stations with out a huge up rwore.
But he has sussed getting the backing of all but one south/central american country backing he has made a partnership with Iran Sera North korea and cuba.
Yes he has failed a bit but he still gets done what he wont's. and pokes at bush allot.
What ever we are doing now is not helping in fact its inflaming the problem.

Regardless of who they like or not, we have pretty much armed and trained the Colombian military. That and the US inevitably being involved should Chavez for some reason make good on his threats, most likely with fighter support, should pretty much throw whatever Venezuela can muster to the wolves with the quickness.

We american think we have the stingiest and best trained military but thats just our opinion its not nearly a fact.
Venaswala is Rich in oil and there support is huge I relay don't hold much hope for Clumba even lasting a week.
Technology is helpful and so is training but the main judge of the out come of a ware is the elegance of the people of the the country where the fitting is taking place. I was talking to a guy from military intelligence in the pentagon metro station yesterday about this and he is in total agreement with me.

Oh, the elegance. I'll write that down for future reference in a firefight.

Wait... now I'm confused. Did someone edit their post, cuz I have no idea what I responded to now. ANYwho... I'm with PD here and I can't agree with this statement: "Technology is helpful and so is training but the main judge of the out come of a ware is the elegance of the people of the the country where the fitting is taking place ". It depends on the type of war afterall; in a mutual annihilation scenario technology is everything... similarly, if you plan on wiping the enemy off the map, it doesn't matter how elegant the people of the country are, you can just use a couple of hydrogen bombs and everything is reduced to ash. In the end, it seems to matter more on the will of the people of the attackers: if Americans were dead set on killing every last Iraqi, things would change a bit. Sure, the nature of the people being invaded counts, as they will accept or reject based on this, but if they aren't trained to fight, it won't do much good (or it will, but only if the attackers let it).

Like in the first gulf war. Saddam was intent to fight the coalition head on, and got steamrolled. sure, it was much deeper than that, but thats my 0.012 euro

So you disagree with the US military intelligence? The only reason we are doing well in Iraq is because we involved the people how live there. With out the Iraqi people we would not be able to hold the ground.
The technology we use is not that much better then the people we fite on the round man to man then we do have. The air power we have is very helpful but thats resources is what make us powerful not the technology or tarning altho they are helpful but do not determent the out come in a big way.
Yes thats trow but thats amusing you have a hitler mentality. IIn the wars we fite genasides not what we are looking for.
o bob, Sodom is hatted we had the peoples support they abandoned there post in many cases.

Lol, to be honest I seriously doubt I'd take any information from some guy in the Metro as accurate. I've rode on it before, and they don't seem like the brightest people.
Of course indigenous backing and assistance is a huge help, that's one of the reasons Iraq has worked out. The trick to Colombia versus Venezuela is, Venezuela would either be the one to provoke Colombia, or Venezuela would indeed try to take over parts of Colombia. Either way, Venezuela would probably be beaten bloody by the better trained and better equipped Colombian military, and the local population has almost nothing to do with anything. Nuff said.

He has a military uniform that looked ethnic and he was at the pentagon metro station and what he said sounded informed. actually I do every day with landmark. I shared with with on person about what he could see for him self not only did he come he bout 2 additional members of his family. I could have not done that if I did not take what he was saying as fact.
How are you to tell them they are not? what have you done to prove to me that you way is more intelligent then there's.
The damage they would do and the loss of life would be enormous. and after the dust settled is would fall back in the same place it was kicked up from.

So I should just take it on your good word that you are in fact, informed by a Pentagon source, who for some reason picked you to share information with in a Metro station. He then told you that the hundred billion+ we spend each year on defense is almost a complete waste. Of course he was wearing a uniform, and had 2 members of his family with him, just so your story makes even more sense. He didn't happen to show you his ID badge too right, or social security number?
Oh and your right, any conflict in the region would be a large loss of life, and nothing would really get settled. 99% of wars are painfully simple to rectify over the diplomatic channels.

Yes, Why would you not take my ward have I lied to you be for? The information was not top secret its just military parasites.
No he did not have 2 members of his family with him. You are mixing up what I was saying. There was a norther guy how had 2 members of his family with him on a other acetone with a different person.
You are very untrusting. Why would I ask for his ID? maybe I should ask him to intrudes me to his boss and show me his resume. It was just a chat on the metro.
Many people in the US armed forces do not like US policy and even people how work in the white house if you have know of mecleins (media rep for the white house) book that was just published you would know this.
Wars don't save life's they take them. War is about killing you don't make peace by killing people thats a oxymoron. The way one makes peace is by enrolling people in a new possibility for there lives. War devastate infrastructure imbeds numerous mental illness in the local populations that killing off possibilities for ones fetcher.
What good would come in most opening diplomatic channels if your country is in taters.
Having said that there are a few uses for war but not many that are productive. Such as ending a already happening war by going to war is justified.
