Just because the big map, and elims comment (other thread), cloakers seems to have slight advantage, so choose Borg/Fed/Dom vs Kl/Rom, its likely your opponent accepts blue skies

are you referring to this comment?

Elim wrote:I'm not planning to join the tournament, but let me give you a friendly advice (as one of the few I know you like to play dominion  :thumbsup: ): if you are planning to play a non-cloaking race, veto Blue skies. I played a lot on that before, and both the distance between the main base's and the layout of the expo's make it horribly biased towards cloaking races. Duel II is the closest to be a good tournament map in my opinion. (even if it's pretty boring for most of us)

I really suggest you do not trust this source and experiment yourself. This proves almost nothing as to how it is "biased" towards cloaking races.
In my perspective ''Blue Skies'' offers more than what Duel 2 offers. In this case more than ''3 lanes'' If Elim is stating that having more than 3 lanes against cloak races is over powered then I must advocate the following:
Starfleet Command is over powered and must not be used in matches,
Klingons cannot build from their Battle Yard,
Dominion must not build more than 5 of a single type of ship,
Romulans must not build their Intelligence Center AND Cloaking Generator,
and finally the Borg must not build more than 2 miners + no other ship except Scout cube and Probes + No other stations except Borg nexus and Transmission Matrix.

Basically I am trying to say this:

Blue Skies = enemy is forced into getting cloak detection to protect themselves and those who don't   need to learn how cloak and "anti-cloak" works.

Duel II = enemy is not forced but may research cloak detection and naturally cannot adapt to different situations presented.

i would say 16 currently, at the moment, with you joined, the tournament format looks like that:

Group of 5 -> best 2
Group of 5 -> best 2

wildcardgame with the third best players (+1) -> Group of 5

Final played by the 2 best of this five players

After some observing & tryouts of Blue Skies with many different players and many different strategies in last few months my vote goes back to Duel II (although I hate it). Blue Skies is unbalanced map. Period.

...and after few successful 4v4 maps I will try to make new decent 1v1 map in cooperation with few others. I know its hard, but I'll try.

I would recommend making a map pool with several 2v2, 3 player, or 1v1 maps :). Then players can choose maps on consensus, so that they are aware of which ones supposedly favor one faction or another  ^-^ .

That could work. Esp. if they have same factions.

I'm okay with the map pool, but only 1v1 maps obviously.  Fleet Ops isn't balanced for playing a map with less than the full number of players.

There's also Early Bird, although it has its own quirks and problems giving defensive races an advantage over Borg, and to some extent Romulans.

I think 1v1 Battlezone and Balance of Power both deserve some consideration as well.
