Getting people to play online.
Here you can arrange online encounters and reminisce over past online battles.

I tried TeamSpeak, and I found what could be a real problem for using it.
In written English I "catch" as close to 100% as I can manage, but when dealing with different spoken accents my listening comprehension drops dramatically. I'd say to 60% or so. I'm afraid I wouldn't be the only one with this problem. We have people that have trouble writing in English, imagine them trying to speak English... >_<
And I fear my Spanish accent doesn't make ME more comprehensible to other people, either...
Even if speaking is faster and more agile than typing, I'm afraid I, for one, will need lots of practice to get what people say without asking for repeats. Oh, and my wifi doesn't help matter when it starts cutting whatever is being said.
As for Xfire, I'm usually more online in Xfire than in Wippien, Skype AND TeamSpeak together.

Lol I can speak Spanish if that helps

You're really talking about Teamspeak and not the difficulty in understanding English when it is typed, correct?
It seems that most of the players we have that do not speak English as their first language seem to have a fairly easy time understanding things in-game. In fact; I was thinking about it the other day in terms of learning a new language and I figured that this would be a great way to get comfortable with it.

Works fine for me, and it never gave me any problems either

I'm talking about the difficulty in understanding spoken English. When you have a typed text, it usually stays on screen so you can re-read it until you get the meaning. This doesn't happen with the spoken word. Either you remember what you heard and try to make sense of it, or ask for it to be repeated, which may end frustrating the other part.

You need the driver for X64. Just ask dominus or find it yourself on the wippien homepage.

Well windows 7 had hardware manager is a bitch.
You have to extract those drivers to a map, then go to device manager, right click on the computer icon and click add legsomething hardware (the lower button). When it asks choose the network adapter and click add and choose I have disc, then locate the drivers manually (where u extracted them) then just go next, next,...
That worked fine for me

Create an irc channel, everyone can chat openly and decide what to use to have a game.

Wippien doesent work for me. Neither does gamespy. Im sick of seeing "host has been lost". The only good thing I can say about wippien is it promptly says "host has been lost" once I try to join game unlike gamespy which will load up everything let me issue a few commands and then promptly lose host upon first construction. So at least wippien doesent tease me. Hell I even went toatlly unprotected which I didnt like for testing purposes with wippien. No firewall and router in DMZ with wippien adaptor set up per the guide on the hitchhikers guide. And still got host has been lost. so I say F*%! it....also the latency I see with FlOps players is to high also.....with other games anything over 200ms and I have issues...and anytime I see FlOps players on its always over 250ms soooo.......I dont know bout others but for me its a no go. Sorry for ranting Im just venting off some plasma.

Would you care to test with me at some point? Who have you been trying to join thus far using Wippien?

why i dont play online ...
there is more then one reason
first of all i'm afraid of being a bad player
in the good old times when i start playing armada 2 online in a clan i also started as noob, i remember my first game against my squadleader he kills me in about ten mins but he also teaches me how to play and one week later i could easily defeat him
two weeks after i started playing we had a clanwar
my sqadleader and me vs the best three players of another clan
we have a good start but after some mins he lost connection and im alone, alone vs three other really good players
it takes about five hours but yeah i win this game and since this game i never have problems online, i play every time on random and win around 80% of the games
but this were the old times ... the old armada 2 ... and since i started playing flops i realized that many has changed
its no more tech up, spam one ship and overrun the enemy ... no more fire and forget ... no flops is a lot more complicated and yeah i'm really afraid of cant handle the complexness of micromanaging my units and special abilities
maybe i need only a good teacher like in my armada 2 beginnings but here is the next problem ... my englisch
i cant understand all and everytime i have the problem of not saying exactly what i want to cause of reduced vocabulary ...
maybe some friendly german player or an englisch speaking with a lot of patience could teach me
yeah i really love this game ... this is the best star trek game on earth and the one which really cares about canon
i really want to learn to play flops but i also have fear of cant fullfill my requirements ... play as perfect as i want to
so if anyone of you can help me i would be very happy

Uff, I can see the language barrier being a problem. I would have the same problem if everything was in German.
I know Dom, I, and others would be more than happy to help teach you how to play. I'll be busy for the next three weeks studying for finals, but after that I'll have tons of time.
Until then, if you want to get used to the units, I recommend reading through the hitchhicker's guide and trying out the different strategies. There are descriptions of the roles of each ship, as well as how to create a balanced fleet that will stomp your enemy. I recommend playing on "the very first map" against 2 hard AIs who are teamed together. Make them both federation or Romulan or something. If you can beat both of them on that map with only 2 moon pairs, you're probably doing something right.
And trust me, if you do play online and suck the first few times, you won't be the first. There are a lot of people who are new, but the fact that you want to work and get good means that you will be good eventually!
