i love your sense of humour mal. 
but i think u fail to understand what a tin foil hat is for. it blocks access to your mind. like wrapping RFID devices in foil blocks their use.
in my city (london) our transport system uses RFID enabled cards for ticket/pay as you go use, enclosing these cards in foil and taping it down is a good prank.

No, I understand how the hat works perfectly. You're part of the vast alien conspiracy trying to cover up their EXISTENCE! >:(
Anyway, I noticed that the fighters don't work for the VRA, and the ships are pretty big; sometimes too big. I already mentioned this in my pm, but I wanted to put something on topic up here and couldn't think of anything else.

Hehe, to respect people who don't want spoilers I suppose you could just ask me in a private message. All I will say here is "Sigma" has to do with the V.R.A. which are 'human' more or less.

I just tested it out and for me the fightercraft seem to be working fine for all the carriers. Is it just the Albatross giving you the issue or is the Battleship Carrier and Valash's ship doing it too?

All of them. The fighter bay on the starbase, the albatross, the hero ships, everything. Are they supposed to be similar to FO fighters? I know in the alpha you needed to click a button. I assumed they're simply hover around, yes? I initiated combat and nothing happened. Anyone else having problems with fighters or is it just me?

The fighters should auto launch every few seconds until there's 9 of them out like the Avalon in FO. For the HQ fighter bay you have to order it to guard something for fighters to launch because FO currently does not start fighter movement unless the host is moving. I think Dom said he was having the same issues with fighter craft, im puzzled that they are not working because I tested it online with a friend and it worked for us. ^^;
Maybe they are too small to see in overhead view ...

I'll end up reinstalling it and see if that helps. I'm glad it's me and not the game.

Alrighty, most of the bugs are patched up, just a few questions targeted mainly at the devs or anyone else who knows how to solve them.
1. In the map editor, when I place a ship that has no shields and then either start the game or reload the game, the ship suddenly has full shields. I've disabled shields permanently, set all values to zero, and shield protection to zero, yet it automatically resets the shield stats no matter what. Is there any way to currently bypass this problem in the map editor?
2. Is there any way to edit the image for the start up and uninstaller icon? For some reason when I go to change the icons it refuses to let me change the image.
3. How can I change the version number display at the bottom of the main menu so that it says 1.0 instead of 3.1.2?
4. This one is very rare, but it seems the AI will use transporters despite the fact that none of their ships have transporter capability. Is there any reason for this?

I know that in the BSG mod #4 has been noticed too. #1 seems to be a problem that has existed for several patches now I believe, so not sure how to fix that until we get some map-making patch fixes.

2, if you mean the ones already in the game, you would probably have to ask doca first, but there are some utilities out there that let you extract and chance icons and images included in exe's and dll's
The one I used was this one.http://www.restuner.com/ but its only a trial.
3, My only guess is it is in a dll, or the file mshell.set which I don't know how to open.
