"Child Boards" means it's a shoot-off of a larger forum.  The Map Exchange is the "child" of the Map Editing Forum.  :D

  Funny though.

Ok doke, a few more updates for you folks!

Beta Aquilae 1.1 is now tweaked a touch. I've mixed a bit of the green into those Mutara Nebulae to give Non-Borg players an opportunity to regen. I've also modified some of the nebula and asteroid block placements to improve pathing and also adjusted the player 3 spot a bit to make it a little friendlier in the early game. Boggz & Dominus; thanks for the input on this.

The Void 1.2 now works with FO 3.1.1 and features absolutely zero stars (thanks to the packaged odf). Make sure that the folks you play with, have this map as well, to prevent conflicts.

Nekrit Expanse 1.0 is a new map and another attempt at encouraging the feeling of discovery. The catch with this map is that it, hopefully, keeps you on your toes. This isn't as good as it could be though as it needs some features that I think the FO team has not yet implemented yet. You'll see what I mean... in time.

Again, check my original post or my signature link for details and download :).

Accretion and Asteroid Belt are now updated with a few gameplay tweaks; most notably, they have both been increased in size to a more respectable 12000x12000 which should enable better fleet action with the increased upper limit and better Borg friendliness towards their base building.

Comments appreciated :)

Great!  I'm re-downloading Aquilae right now.

Keep in mind though that even if you have a green neb inside a mutara, your shields will still be offline and you won't actually regen anything :D.

P.S:  When I dl'd it from your site the file was "1.0 for FO 3.1.1"

Should it be 1.1?

Interesting; maybe you caught the download halfway through me changing them about. There was a brief time where I had the wrong version up. However, I have checked the download link and titles for Beta Aquilae just now and everything indicates that version 1.1 is up. The only map on version 1.0, at the moment, is Nekrit Expanse. :)

You can tell which version you have fairly easily by comparing the Mutara Nebula in game. Version 1.1 will have 6 blobs of green nebula inside it as opposed to just 2. There will also be larger amounts of green elsewhere on the map.

I made sure to not to overlap the Mutara with the green stuff so hopefully, you should just get the effect of one nebula but have a go a let me know if it needs adjusting for fleets and stuff :)

Oh wow!  I can't wait for tau ceti!  :D

You know I have been trying my best to set up maps like these for months.  I always end up sticking to a relatively symmetrical design with maybe asymmetrical features in the opposing corners or direct center, but you've really gone all out and made some very cool things.

I haven't got a chance to play Beta Aquilae online yet, but as soon as I do I may have to change my opinion on how symmetrical maps need to be :D.  I've always felt as though asymmetrical can leave Elite Players feeling as though they were somehow cheated or at a disadvantage because of the terrain.  There is some definite truth to that - in that if the starting conditions and surrounding areas are not the same, it represents an imbalance.  However, I think in maps this size it will be less of an issue

^-^.
